• The Government announced $1.3 million for anti-crime measures inAuckland’s CBD, coming from the Proceeds of Crime Fund.
• Two councillors are telling the Minister for Auckland Simeon Brown not to forget there is a city outside the CBD.
• Police data showed crime decreased in the CBD year-on-year to January, but increased in Manukau and elsewhere.

Who wants to tell South Auckland why the Central Business District gets all the Police protection?

Cough.

Well.

Rich Tourists come to downtown Auckland and our endemic poverty and homelessness that swamps them when they arrive scares the bejesus out of them and scared rich tourists is not what Auckland Central wants.

That endemic poverty and homelessness manifests in negative social behaviour and a spike in crime, which annoys very powerful (mostly white) interests in Central Auckland who want those rich tourists spending without fear.

Soooooooo.

Those very powerful (mostly white) interests in Central Auckland demand a central Auckland strategy to push the homelessness out of Central Auckland with constant harassment and heavy handed enforcement.

That poverty gets pushed out to the suburbs, and of course, South Auckland, which only compounds the desperation as those communities don’t have the luxury of very powerful (mostly white) interests in Central Auckland.

Long story short, rich white interests need central Auckland to be crime free so rich tourists spend money, while poor suburbs can go fuck themselves.

That is why.
