Censorship fears over revamp of InternetNZ’s constitution
Opponents of a review of InternetNZ’s constitution are planning a takeover, saying the not-for profit is setting itself up as internet judge and jury.
But InternetNZ says it’s bringing the organisation into the 21st century and is responding to the recommendations of a 2022 review into systemic racism.
InternetNZ is a little-known entity with responsibility for managing the 750,000 websites with a .nz domain name.
A fortnight ago, it had 300 to 400 members.
However, membership had now more than doubled since a newsletter recently disseminated by the Free Speech Union called on its members to join InternetNZ to fight against what the union labelled an undemocratic rewrite of the organisation’s constitution.
“The InternetNZ Council has recently declared that InternetNZ is systemically racist and is proposing a new constitution that will make the organisation co-governed, and constitutionally required to implement policies that will eliminate harm on the internet,” the newsletter, authored by former District Court judge David Harvey, said.
The Free Speech Union told its members the review was ideological and primed for censorship of .nz websites.
Groan.
The Free Speech Union is a zionist front group who astroturfs adjacent to the Taxpayer’s Union, that they exist at all is testament to how our middle class woke activists managed to make Free Speech a right wing issue.

The FSU is there to justify and legitimise their right wing hate trolls while pretending to care about Free Speech.
They are disingenuous in the extreme and their social media feed comes across like a frenetic 19year old incel virgin who hasn’t masturbated to anime porn for 72 hours.
Fuck the FSU and fuck their bad faith defence of free speech, that they are rigging Internet NZ membership to force the organisation not to adopt more diversity is the exact sort of sick political stunt the alt-Right have become famous for.
In terms of their beef with Internet NZ, it’s bullshit.
Internet NZ are a bunch of stiffs who do sweet fuck all, the idea that an organisation as timid as this would start shutting down NZ websites is so ludicrous it would be funny if it wren’t so petty.
Internet NZ of course are doing themselves no favours, the clowns they have defending them from this bad faith attack are incapable of actually shutting down FSUs claims of censorship because they aren’t used to having to explain anything.
Internet NZ is a very conservative body, it always has been, that they believe they need more diversity at the table is a matter they need to decide, pretending that increase in diversity suddenly means an internet censorship crackdown is more reds under the bed fear mongering than any actual legitimate threat to our Free Speech.
FSU is playing to everyones ignorance of what Internet NZ actually does to justify this weeks frenetic social media frisson.
Clearly donations are down at the FSU this month and they need a new bogeyman to keep the money rolling in.
