New Zealand requires Israelis to disclose IDF service details as condition for entry
Israelis applying for a tourist visa are being asked about the dates of their service, the locations of their bases, and whether they have ‘been involved in war crimes’
New Zealand’s government immigration authority has begun to require Israelis applying for a visa to report details of their military service as a condition for entry, and at least one person has been denied admission after doing so, The Times of Israel has learned.
Israelis of reserve service age who applied for tourist visas to New Zealand have been asked to report whether they had served in the Israel Defense Forces — as almost all Israeli citizens are required to do — and whether they are active reservists. Those who answered affirmatively were required to complete detailed questionnaires about their military service.
In the first questionnaire, visa applicants were asked about the dates of their military service, the location of their bases, the corps and units in which they served, the military camps where they were stationed, their rank, details of their roles, and their military ID number.
We have had our work visa abused by Israel. It is being used to allow IDF members who may have been involved in war crimes to relax and chill out here.
That flies in the face of every value we have as a liberal progressive democracy.
New Zealand should not be a rest and recreation holiday destination for war criminals!
The move to hunt down war criminals visiting New Zealand is righteous and Immigration NZ are now being forced to do the same by requesting the specific times of an Israeli’s military service, if they are heading here after committing war crimes in the current genocide, they shouldn’t be allowed in and clearly that’s what Immigration NZ are now doing…
In the second questionnaire, they were asked:

- “Have you been associated with any intelligence service or group, or law enforcement agency?”
- “Have you been associated with any group or organization that has used or promoted violence or human rights abuses to further their aims?”
- “Have you committed or been involved in war crimes, crimes against humanity, or human rights abuses?”
Those who can’t disclose details of their military service due to security concerns are not exempt from filling out the questionnaire; as a result, they are unable to complete it and obtain a visa.
…New Zealand is not a holiday destination for war criminals…
At least one soldier who served in Gaza during the ongoing war against Hamas has been denied entry to New Zealand. He said that this was a direct result of his answers to the questionnaire, while noting that he said he had not been involved in war crimes in Gaza.
Australia has been operating a similar policy, and at least two Israelis have been denied entry as a result.
New Zealand’s Immigration Authority (INZ), reached for comment, did not deny the details of this report, but said that serving in the current war did not automatically disqualify Israelis from entering the country.

Have they really, weak questions, needs an OIA to find out the immigration emails with Winston etc over this. They need to allow Immigration to have access to their facebook pages which they have closed down so that immigration don’t know. There was an IDFer in Auckland a while back, bragging.
I guess that Zelda doesn’t have any influence in our immigration department then, that’s really good news.
Good to see INZ improving its game. Let’s hope they improve in other areas as well. One can only assume the departure of a couple of neo-liberal micro-managerial lapdogs has something to do with it. Hopefully when we get real public service reform, the entire bugger’s muddle that is MoBIE with be dismantled. That’s probably going to be on the least worst option of Labour and Green/TPM partners coming to a theatre near you soon

For many years young Israeli tourists have been a source of discontent to others just ask DOC Hut Wardens. One blew himself up trying to light a gas fire in a hut on the Heaphy Track, the mildest comment from fellow trampers said something like–now you know how Palestinians fell, many other comments were more to the point. In the main are totally obnoxious to others.
I heard they are all defecting and seeking refugee status, hence the questions to ensure they’re true psychopaths and will return after their R+R. The sane ones get refused and returned for re-indoctrination.
I have travelled with Israelis and I can say they are the most arrogant, entitled people I have had the misfortune to be around…
