Gaza Strip

Attacks: There are no safe places for the militarily-dominated population in Gaza, who find themselves subjected to airstrikes and other missile attacks on buildings, homes and many essentialfacilities, as well as constant gunfire and invasions by Israeli forces. The Israeli Navy continues to fire missiles, targeting facilities and buildings along the entire Gaza shoreline.

Victims: 81 more people have been killed within the past 48 hours, bringing the total number killed in Gaza since 7 October 2023 to at least 46,788. Another 188 have been wounded, bringing that total to 110,453. The daily average number of men, women and children killed in Gaza is at least 100 and, that of those injured, is now more than 236.

Key Highlights

• In the first two weeks of 2025, nine Palestinians, including four children, were killed by Israeli forces, five of whom were killed by airstrikes.

• About 14 per cent of settler attacks in 2024 that resulted in casualties or property damage involved the use of flammable liquids, Molotov cocktails and other incendiary material.

• A surge in access restrictions and attacks by Israeli settlers has been documented in several communities located in Area B of the West Bank, following the establishment of new settlement outposts near them.

• More than 40 Palestinian-owned structures were demolished by Israeli authorities across the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, between 7 and 13 October.

Latest Developments (after 13 January 2025)

• According to initial information, two Israeli airstrikes on Jenin refugee camp, on 14 and 15 January, killed 12 Palestinians, including a 15-year-old child.

• According to initial information, at night on 15 January, Israeli settlers carried out multiple attacks across the Nablus governorate, targeting homes and other properties in Huwwara, Qusra, Madama, and Burin villages. In Huwwara, settlers injured four Palestinians and damaged a commercial shop by stone-throwing, and in Burin, settlers set fire to a Palestinian-owned vehicle and an under-construction, livelihood structure.

Humanitarian Developments (7-13 January 2025)

• During the reporting period, Israeli forces killed six Palestinians, including three children, and injured 38 others, including eight children, across the West Bank, including East Jerusalem. A Palestinian woman was killed in Jenin city within the context of the ongoing operation by Palestinian forces in the nearby Jenin camp. Since midnight on 07 October 2023, Occupation forces have been imposing a complete closure around the whole of the West Bank, preventing people (including even permit– holders) from entering both the city of Jerusalem as well as Israel, otherwise than for especially–negotiated exceptions. Permanent military checkpoints impose severe travel restrictions within the Occupied West Bank.

Israeli Army airstrikes on refugee camp homes – 6 killed and 6 injured: Jenin – 19:15, an Israeli military drone launched an airstrike, targeting two houses in the Jenin refugee camp and killing six residents: Muhammad Yunis Araarawi, Ahmad Yassin Araarawi, Mahmoud Ahmad Fayyad, Osama Abdul Karim Abu Droubi, Mustafa Muhammad Fayyad and Awad Subhi Abu Zaid. Two other residents were injured in the airstrike.

Israeli Army attack: Tulkarem – 13:35, Israeli forces, firing live ammunition, stormed and patrolled the town of Quffin.
