The most disturbing part of NZ Police justifying 12 year old gang patch fiasco

Twelve-year-old stopped by police for wearing a boxing club shirt

There are concerns police have misused a new gang patch ban law after a 12-year-old boy was questioned on Christmas Day for wearing a boxing gym t-shirt, featuring elements of the Black Power logo.

The boy was walking to a friend’s house on Wednesday when officers, earlier responding to a medical event across the road, approached him.

They told the 12-year-old they were allowed to confiscate his t-shirt, which displayed the logo of his boxing gym.

The gym, Kia Kaha Boxing Club, is associated with Black Power and had elements of the gang’s insignia in its logo, including a raised fist and two ferns. The gym has been open since 1995 and operated out of the Black Power Marae in Mt Wellington. The symbol has been a part of the club since its inception.

“So they walked towards me, and they said, ‘do you know that you’re not allowed to wear that?’,” the boy told 1News. “And I said, ‘but that’s my boxing uniform’.

“They said, ‘But it has that fist’. So they said it was our patch.”

He claimed one of the officers was trying to “scare” him by using “harsh language” and being “aggressive”.

The 12-year-old returned to the club, removing the t-shirt and swapped it for another.

However, police took the shirt and told the boy he was being detained.

The most disturbing part of the story about Cops detaining a 12 year old boy on Christmas and threatening to prosecute him for wearing a ‘gang patch’ is the manner in which these fucking pricks have justified it.

Remember – these arseholes WERE GOING TO prosecute this 12 year old and only didn’t after the media picked up the story, yet even now, these pricks are justifying the detention and are claiming that a raised fist is a gang symbol.

Really.

A raised fist is a gang symbol is it?

What about this raised fist?

I have lots of clothing wth this fist on it, I dare the Police, no, DOUBLE DARE the Police to fucking arrest me!

This 12 year old boy was walking to a mates house on Christmas Day. The ‘rational’ for this stupid gang patch ban is that it stops intimidation of the public.

How the Christ does a 12 year old walking to his mates house on Christmas Day wearing a boxing T-shirt that has a raised fist on it intimidating anyone?

This was a moment for the Police to acknowledge they had been over zealous and got this one wrong, but they didn’t did they?

The fucking pigs doubled down and have attempted to claim they were right to detain the kid.

Folks, TDB is about to launch a T-shirt range this month using the red raised fist of socialism and we are daring the cops to arrest us for wearing that raised fist.

This is a liberal progressive democracy, not a fucking police state.

The cops are brave and tough to detain a 12 year old boy for wearing a shirt with a raised fist on it, are they as brave and tough to try this shit on against old white men for wearing a raised fist?

You know they aren’t.

Fuck the Police.

    • gordon walker This boy’s boxing gym is run by the Black Power gang, so join the Black Power gym and you can wear that T-shirt too.

      • So what ,because the gym I go to is run buy white people its squeaky clean ?A lot of illegal drugs are traded in white gyms through out NZ .Just think where do these people get their steriods from /It is not their GP is it .I suppose people like you think it is only gangs and Maori that trade in drugs .Sales of steroids may well rival the meth market .

      • Logic would tell u the so called gang is trying to uplift their community through promoting an active lifestyle, what is the crime here and who are the victims?

  1. You’re on old white guy, effectively part of the establishment, of cause they’re not going to arrest you

    • Nah, the pigs’d love to arrest white blokes for wearing Kia Kaha boxing club shirts. To show how they actually are not just attacking the maaris on Luxon’s orders.

  2. It’s up to parents to ensure that kids don’t wear clothes which could get them into trouble with the law, or with the lawless.

A Maori colleague wouldn’t let her children wear red because its gang associations could bring trouble from other gangs. The late Professor Eru Pomare spoke of his teenage daughter being harassed by Maori males for wearing a bone carving which they didn’t think she was entitled to.

  3. I could wear one of them, my view is that it would be even better if it said “Jesus loves gang members” as well although I can accept being in the minority about that.

      • Saturday is the seventh day, I must admit the idea would probably not pass with the majority at my church but I could get some of them to.

          • Because people are self righteous and judgemental even in a Christian church where they should know better.
We live in a society where achievement (usually accumulated wealth and sporting success) is highly valued so it becomes easy for “good” people to neglect those who do not conform to their standards.
I am all in favor of people being “good” and do not support criminal behavior however Jesus died to save (make righteous) all who believe in Him so we need to tell them. Eze 33:11, 1 Tim 2:4, 2 Pe 3:9

  4.
