New welfare sanctions could stop families paying rent, officials warn

Welfare officials say new Government policy, introducing new ways to sanction beneficiaries who did not meet their obligations to MSD, could lead to consequences such as families being unable to pay rent and basic bills.

The comment came during a scrutiny week hearing, in which Green and Labour MPs sounded alarm about new sanctions and whether the Government would dust off dormant provisions of the Social Security Act to punish parents who fail to meet “social obligations”.

…the Reserve Bank Governor purposely crashes the economy, causes tens of thousands in job losses, expects unemployment to hit 5.2, beneficiary numbers explode and the Government is now forced to get imaginative in how to find ways to cut people off welfare.

Remember the Economy is sinking so fast because the Government is ideologically imposing policy rather than well thought ideas.

Forcing beneficiaries onto cards will create the same problems Australia saw when they imposed this, people won’t be able to use their benefit to pay rent and will get kicked out before the bureaucracy catches up.

Under scrutiny the Officials admitted they couldn’t guarantee that wouldn’t happen here.

So a welfare policy that increases the risk of homelessness to fund tax cuts they’ll never see for landlord loopholes.

The State is unjust and rigged for the rich.

  1. Growing numbers on wellfare is a sign of a very poor economy and society in general .These fake christians are destroying NZ as fast as they can for no other reason than self promotion and greed for the wealthy .

    • No Gordan, there’s no “fake” about them. All christians point to those other christians that they may disagree with and call them fake or heretics or whatever. It’s fundamental to their group identities.

  2. When I see people begging on the street I usually ask them if they have somewhere to live, are they on a benefit etc. The other day the man said his benefit had been cut in half for the next 3 weeks because he didn’t get to an appointment he had with them.

  3. I rented my house out to a beneficiary and wi z paid her bond but despite her getting an accommodation benefit she paid no rent .As it was over xmas the agent could not act to get her out. WINZ were not interested in the fact she fraudulently kept money .A direct transfer would have protected me and kept the renter honest.

I want to sanction the reigning government which ‘did not meet their obligations to’
citizens who elected them, also citizens who did not but are still supporting in various ways, taxes, fines… but see increasing amounts of previously done govt work contracted out but no improvement while the MPs getting more money for doing less.l

  5. Landlords won’t be that concerned – NZ taxpayers already spend over $2 billion dollars every year subsidizing the rental market. I’m sure that will continue and increase.

  6. If people can’t pay rent then landlords lose out, it’s like an elaborate social ponzie scheme. Then the screws will really be on.

  7. Did the reserve bank, when they engineered the recession to stop inflation, expect another Labour government to keep society buoyant in the right direction. Instead were they shocked by a National win with their Dicksonian policies which have sharply caused a massive recession that won’t be recovered from any time soon? It feels like the reserve bank regrets their hard out interest rates and are backtracking…… Social engineering is a fucked way to go about government.

  8. When onme has a “government” that has nothing but repeatedly plsying the old “bait and switch” routine as method of communication, and subsequent imposition of policies that are obviously dictated to them, then one can assume, with some confidence, that incompetence, self interest, and greed are all the attributes required to be a stalwart of the colonial/globalist power structure now.
The current PM epitomises these “qualities”, alongside the only real talent in what passes for a tory government….. Mastery of manipulating the publics money… An historical source of tory wealth..
