Attacks: There are no safe places for the militarily-dominated population in Gaza, who find themselves subjected to airstrikes and other missile attacks on buildings, homes and many essentialfacilities, as well as constant gunfire and invasions by Israeli forces. The Israeli Navy continues to fire missiles, targeting facilities and buildings along the entire Gaza shoreline.
Victims: 35 more people have been killed within the past 48 hours, bringing the total number killed in Gaza, since 7 October, to at least 43,799. Another 111 have been wounded, bringing that total to 103,601. The daily average number of men, women and children killed in Gaza is at least 108 and, of those injured, that is now more than 255.

A retired NHS surgeon who recently returned from working at a hospital in Gaza said he treated children “day after day after day” who had been deliberately targeted by Israeli drones following bomb attacks. In harrowing testimony to British MPs on Tuesday, Nizam Mamode said of all the conflicts he had worked in, including the genocide in Rwanda, he and other experienced colleagues in Gaza had “never seen anything on this scale ever”. He said at least once or twice daily, there were “mass casualty incidents,” meaning that 10 to 20 people were killed and up to 40 seriously injured. He estimated that at least 60 percent of the people treated at these times were women and children.
“Drones would come down and pick off civilians, children,” Mamode told members of the International Development Committee in a hearing focused on the humanitarian situation in Gaza. “This is not an occasional thing. This was day after day after day operating on children who would say, ‘I was lying on the ground after a bomb dropped and this quadcopter came down and hovered over me and shot me’.” He said he spent the entire month in the hospital partly because it was not safe to travel around, but also because Israel bombed MAP’s guest house in southern Gaza in January, an act that Mamode believes was deliberate. “All of those guest houses are in the Israeli army’s computers and are designated safe houses, so my assumption is that it was a deliberate attack and the aim behind it is to discourage aid workers from coming,” Mamode said.

Analysis: An Israeli General recently admitted that the goal was to expel Palestinians from northern Gaza and provide no options for return. Israeli officials have also let slip more indications that this is indeed their goal. Last week a Brigadier General in the Israeli Defence Forces told Israeli journalists that in expelling residents from this area, which includes the city of Beit Lahiya and the Jabaliya refugee camp, the IDF had no intention of ever letting them return.
The general added that Israel would allow no humanitarian aid into this portion of the Strip because “there are no more civilians left.” The dominant images from northern Gaza are partly the ones that became familiar a year ago, of buildings reduced to rubble, and pictures of residents walking away from their homes with what few possessions they can carry. The latter images resemble those from an earlier Israeli ethnic cleansing of Palestinians – the Nakba of 1948.

Deaths: Nablus – two Palestinian prisoners, Samih Aliwi and Anwar Shaaban Muhammad Aslim, have died in Israeli Occupation prisons in ‘catastrophic conditions’. In a joint statement, the Ministry of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs and the Palestinian Prisoners‘ Society announced on Friday the deaths of Samih Suleiman Muhammad Aliwi (aged 61) and Anwar Shaaban Muhammad Aslim (aged 44).
