Bad week for democracy in NZ Parliament – banning investigative journalist and Naming young Māori politician

That moment when you realise whose land your country is built on.

What a terrible week for democracy in the NZ Parliament.

First Gerry Brownlee bans Investigative Journalist Aaron Smale from Parliament’s offical apology to those abused in State care.

Aaron has been at the forefront of exposing how the Wellington Bureaucracy first enabled the abuse of 250 000 kids and then hid that abuse and then used appalling legal tactics to silence them and minimise that abuse.

To ban him from Parliament because he is asking the PM hard questions is despicable.

Gerry was forced to back down as the outrage of the survivors who see Aaron’s journalism as part of their own story erupted.

Gerry followed that up by throwing Willie Jackson out…

…and then Naming Hana-Rawhiti Maipi-Clarke for leading the haka against the most racist piece of legislation to ever darken Parliament’s door in modern times…

…The Political Right brought a race war to NZ Parliament – the people responded!

…when the Parliament is used to attack those who challenge it, to brutalise the weak and promote injustice, our Democracy is made weaker, not stronger.

This State has hidden its full accountability of children abused in its care and is now attempting to rewrite the constitutional framework of our nation all in a week.

We will not allow the far right to rewrite the constitutional framework of our nation for their benefits

Not today, not tomorrow, not ever!

  1. Jerry “Jabba the Hutt” Brownlee has not changed, some speakers grow in their understanding of cross partisanship in the position but not this one.

It was great to see Hana rip the bill up, and the Haka. Seymour better change his tack soon or he will get “filled in” given the large reaction to his divisive attack on te Tiriti. Aotearoa NZ despite the nasty statistical evidence of post colonial fallout, has largely avoided the extreme violence–car bombs, kidnappings, genocide–of other indigenous struggles around the world and we need to act fast to make sure it stays that way.

    • “Jerry “Jabba the Hutt” Brownlee has not changed, some speakers grow in their understanding of cross partisanship in the position but not this one”
      Ain’t that the truth!
Unfortunately, because apparently he’s a nice enough bloke, a moderately intelligent life form, and amusing at times. We plebs are expected to make allowances specimens with these qualities – even if they’re partisan, ‘don’tcha know who I am’, useless lumps of lard who consider themselves special.
I had high hopes for Gerry when he became Mr Speaker, believing he had a few of those all-important ‘principles’ at least.
      How disappointing he’s been.
The old guard gNats had a few that were OK – Finlaysons, McKinnons, Spud Bolger, and others. Unfortunately Gerry doesn’t want to join them. No great loss though

  2. Strange how a rich white national pary minister can tell a voter to fuck off but this young Maori woman gets sanctioned for doing a haka the national sports teams use weekly around the world .She is entitled to challenge Seymour and his vile bill .

  3. Unreal what is happening. ACT has unleashed the hidden racism in NZ. People complain about terms like “colonisation” and “colonialism”, but with ACT exhibiting those exact behaviours, it proves more than ever the fight isn’t over.

  4. Its almost a year the Government has avoid talking about election promises.
Where are the 200,000 new jobs?
Where are the 2,000 new Doctors in the community?
Where are the 1,000 new surgeons and the extra 100,000 operations a year?
Where are the 200,000 new homes?
Where is the new Auckland Port?
Where is the New harbour bridge?
    Where are the new Ferries?
    Just blame the Maoris.
It’s worked for the past 100 years.
    If it aint broke…

  5. Shane Jones is showing him, and his party are hypocrites his boss (Winstone) is right up Trump bum, yet Jones is calling for our Māori politicians to be locked up for their behavior, what a fucken joke. Our most powerful allies have just elected a convicted felon and one of the most divisive Presidents in history.

    • dOCTOR PORK is full of shit .He was not even in the house .He must have been at the pub watching porn with Cigarretti and no haka Potaka who were not brave enough to stand up for fellow Maori as well what weak scum they are .

  6. Aaron Smale has been attacked before by our farmers as he exposed them for being greedy, selfish, whining, entitled racist swine’s who benefitted of stolen Māori land and still are.

  7. The yes, looking like a possum in the headlight, the house speaker, with his party, never far from his though, his Party, he closed the hoos,, why, should our hoos of care be question .
Is not our hoos a bastion compassion of our thought, within, our care. HOW COME THIS person with greed capital and end up exploit other races for an noddy land though, educate who, we are all.

  8. Am I the only one who sees why this was brought foward a week .Both Luxon and Peters are out of the country and would have known that a long way out from this week .Both decided that if they were not here they could escape all responsability for the resulting up roar .
Shrewd but at the same time weak as piss .They both have enabled the racist prick and now cant stand up to him so they once again get Maori to do the heavy lifting .
