Green Party delegates to use Waka-Jumping law to eject Darleen Tana from Parliament

Green Party delegates have overwhelmingly decided to use the Waka-Jumping law to eject Darleen Tana from Parliament if she decides not to quit first.

The former Green MP, who currently sits as an independent, had her future decided by party delegates in a late night “Special General Meeting” Zoom on Thursday. All 185 party delegates present at the meeting reached “consensus” to endorse using the legislation against Tana, suggesting the party is far more united on the issue than previously thought.

In a statement, Green co-leader Chlöe Swarbrick confirmed the party had endorsed the “potential use of the Electoral Act to remove Darleen Tana as a Member of Parliament”.

However, she repeated a call to Tana to “finally do the right thing” and resign before being forced out.

FINALLY!

The Greens overwhelmingly voted to throw Darleen out with even guest appearances from Marama and Metiria on last nights online meeting to finally present a united front against the uber woke clique and use the waka jumping legislation to kick Tana out!

It has been a year since the election and Chloe’s desire to lead the largest movement in NZ history has stalled because all the energy of her momentum was sapped due to this Darleen fiasco.

Watching the Woke on Woke friendly fire has been hilarious, like two vegans fighting over a steak washed down with a glass of milk.

There are of course, winners and losers.

WINNERS:

Chloe She stared down the They/Thems and in doing so showed that she was tough enough to take on the uber woke clique and their hysterical hyper feelings of persecution. She refused to be emotionally manipulated by them and has come out of this far stronger than she went into it. It’s cost her a year, but the fight was necessary and important to show voters that Chloe is not beholden to identity politics.  Even as she has beaten Tana, she gives her the option to still stand down so that she is not expelled. That shows a grace un victory even after a brutal and bruising battle. That’s classy.

Green Party Membership – They have finally shown some spine and backed Chloe to get rid of not only Tana but the Uber Woke Clique of staffers and members who have attempted to push a pure temple strategy over broadchurch solidarity.

LOSERS:

Environment – An entire year has been wasted on this bullshit all the while the planet burns.

Candidate selection – Darleen’s argument was that despite quitting the Greens and despite being a list candidate, she is a Māori woman who understands Māori science and as such, had a right to remain in Parliament – DESPITE quitting and DESPITE being a Party List MP.

Darleen believed her identity mattered more than her actual political affiliation.

Look – if Darleen was an electorate MP and her quitting was driven by a conscious objection to Green Party policy, then she would have a right to stay, but that’s not what happened here at all!

There were serious allegations about her husband exploiting migrant labour, allegations that once investigated showed a far higher level of awareness of the issue on Darleen’s part than she was upfront about.

If she gave a damn about the Green Party kaupapa, she would have fallen on her sword once the allegations become public, but her Millennial level selfishness and self justification that her identity trumps all political obligations is astounding evidence of just how powerful Identity Politics has now become on the Left.

The trouble for Chloe is that the next candidate off the Party list is even woker…

…and the one after him pole danced to raise funds for the last election…

…the ‘lived experience’ groups inside the Greens have been given enormous selection of candidate powers and they have propelled these Identity Politics candidates up the list, the Greens need a good hard long look at themselves and the candidates they are promoting simply because of their diversity.

The They/Thems uber woke clique – This mix of staffers and members empowered Tana and have been a constant source of irritation inside the movement, exploiting the new voting powers and pushing their own agenda. They were behind the Dr Kerere shenanigans  and they have been behind this move. It’s time to start quietly expelling these toxic radioactive influences back into the Wellington Twitter Clique and let them howl at their flax woven non-binary moon cups.

PREDICTIONS:

The Uber Woke They/Them clique who empowered Tana threatened to release a dirt file but that threat seems awkwardly purple even for the wounded feels of The They/Thems.

Are they so self-mutilating to destroy the Party?

Who cares.

This clique have overplayed their identity politics hand so much that they are now detested even within the Greens. The extremes that the woke are prepared to go to infiltrate and take over social justice movements has finally been beaten back and their idealogical purges have finally run out of people to cancel.

This whole fiasco has highlighted the craziness of the woke and the ever decreasing circle of their movement as a whole.

In the stark light of the Cass Review which highlighted the Trans movement as little more than a middle class cult, the power of Identity Politics to only alienate and drive Pure Temple Politics has been painfully exposed throughout this Tana fiasco and it has become incumbent on the Greens to review the candidate selection process and the new lived experience voting rules that allowed these factions to gain so much power inside the Greens in the first place.

I’ve seen this post pop up a bit on social media of late…

…the irony of those posting it are they are the most extreme identity politic practitioners, it highlights the panic running through the Left, especially in America, as the extremes of Identity Politics in driving the cancelled into the arms of the Republicans looks like it will win Trump the election.

The problem with Identity Politics is that it ends up dividing far more than it brings together.

This whole Darleen Tana episode has been deeply embarrassing for the Woke Left, let’s hope there are some hard lessons learnt here because the Planet is burning and it demands a political voice that has the populist support to challenge the capitalism that is underpinning that.

Can the woke please go to sleep now?

Increasingly having independent opinion in a mainstream media environment which mostly echo one another has become more important than ever, so if you value having an independent voice – please donate here.

      • No. The Greens are sane and rational with some annoying peripheral wackiness. ACT and NZF are wacky with no peripheral sanity or rationality. Big difference.

        • How dare you say ACT and NZF are wacky. They’re very clinically chasing votes to get into parliament so they can satisfy their leaders egos. It all makes perfect sense and I won’t hear you say otherwise.

    • Did or did not witches(reportedly)
*Poison princesses with dodgy apples?, *Eat children lost in forests either by roasting them in ovens or stewing them big pots over open fires?
      *Talk to mirrors?
*Tempt children with lollies and live alone in gingerbread houses?
      *Turn men into newts?
*Spend numerous evenings cavorting with Satan and all his little devils under the full moon?
*Hold orgies with other witches and Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee?
And *Fly about on Broomsticks none the less and cultivate warts on the ends of their noses and have bad teeth?

I’m sorry but this sounds nothing like the present NZ Green party. As such any comparisons between greenies is and witches is baseless rumour-mongering and should be seen for what is it, just another far right extremist conspiracy.

  1. Yes however the word finally needs some perspective. Litigation prevented the Greens from doing this earlier and they gave Tana ample opportunity to resign gracefully.
This has finally occurred because of good due process and not fast tracked like many of the CoC policies.

    • Yes, that’s correct. It just makes Tana look even worse for sticking around. What an idiot.
Good on the Greens! Yay Chloe.

  2. I’ve seen this post [about targets] pop up a bit on social media of late…
That bit about targets. What has to happen for a world where we can live and work amicably is to recognise that we have various forms of power, various paths for action. We are diverse even when we aim to be singular, individual. We need to attempt to like each other, but act against harmful hierarchies. This includes wokeism; anything that promotes pureism, zero targets, perfectly straight lines, ill-thought laws that act against our natural selves.

And we naturally are cute in the way of being cunning. The wealthy used to import brandy etc from France to Brit ex customs and that was a serious crime. But it could have been more of a game between gummint and the toffs if they had been more sensible and reasonable. And all the laws we set because of cunning background thoughts, for instance, the cannabis law which doesn’t bear an objective view looking for its reason – there isn’t any actual reason, it’s all a desire to oppress people who aren’t toffs.

And a lot of people are hurt by it, and a lot of cost, and the police are corrupted. But the law is sacrosanct. And gummint has become solidified into a bloc of defence for the dopey middle-class and the crowing wealthy class. Not a pretty sight. Neither is wokeism or intensive racism and preference over all, and those utilising cracks in the system who are real weeds, not useful ground cover (the gardeners will get that).

  3. “Darleen believed her identity mattered more than her actual political affiliation.”

There seems to be a lot of that about – across the political spectrum, but dare I say it – mainly from the right, AND pretenders from the left.
Watching comments on here, and the likes of TS, and elsewhere, I often wonder where, how, and when it all turned to shit. Neoliberalism plays a big/HUGE part in it all, but there’s something else.
How and why did Winston go down the rabbit hole – especially with his legacy at stake.
How about Shane Jones FFS – he always had a big fukking ego with a little inadequate dick, and offshore daughters who I HOPE have the humility and intelligence to feel just a little embarrassed by their father’s antics.
And maybe it’s is simple as that.
Screeching banshees Willis, Upston and others.
Little index fingers from Jones and Simeon lecturing AT us
Cult/ideology-driven David Seymore from the spectrum, pretending a bit of critical thought, but heavily influenced by his ideologically-driven bed fellows – emulating a Trump’s hand movements whilst he tells us all what’s best for us.
And then, of course we have Trotters and the media aggregator/critically-thoughtless Aro St laptop-clad, look-at-moi, look-at-oi Edwards. Some – including Bomber have tried to explain them (the single issue, the left’s intelligentsia, the theoretically-driven history revisionists – ALL comfy little egotists mostly). All of it probably a pointless exercise
Obvious ‘flakes’ like Darleen and tory Tory feigning left-wing credentials. They both might like, and have concern for their environment – just so long as it’s THEIR, they/them’s environment
Things probably have to get a little bit worse before they can get better. Let’s hope there’s something/anything left to rebuild from.

  4. How long will the appeal process against any Speaker’s Ruling take? And the subsequent Judicial Review? What do they know of politics, those who only politics know. . .

  5. While you are all rabbiting on about woke this or that the world is burning .Its not that important and all you are doing is parroting what Winston says when some one is not kissing his arse .

  6. “It’s time to start quietly expelling these toxic radioactive influences back into the Wellington Twitter Clique and let them howl at their flax woven non-binary moon cups” .

    Classic Martyn.

I nearly fell off my bar stool laughing…

    • Yeah, but if you live next door, the howling’s really irritating. It’s a real problem in Wadestown & Thorndon.

  7. Bless the greens, I love ’em, but they’re a 10% party when they could so easily be sitting in the 20’s.

First man’s man tradie candidate, front and centre, who doesn’t look like Jebus, preach like a professor and fake walks it like David Shearer, is the easiest double your money you’ll ever see in politics.

  8. The freezer at Timaru just shut, that’s 500 jobs in one small town. Add the 200 at Karioi, then there’s Kiwirails all of staff redundancy offer. Add Wellington public service cutbacks. That’s a heap for the dole because there are f.a. jobs out there. But Luxflake is sorted, wealthy.

Why aren’t these headline at TBD, daily? It’s supposed to be a socialist blog. Fekk the Morgan NATO columns, get on topic Bomber.

  9. Hopefully, that’s not just from the perspective of a bar stool. I’m sure it’s not. A shitload of folk can’t afford that luxury. Not too far East of where you drown your sorrows, there are one or two contemplating a night in the Town Belt

  10. If Darleen self identified as a male National Party MP she could just say she doesn’t remember doing anything inappropriate like MacLeod did. Even the police won’t touch it.

  11. “Darleen believed her identity mattered more than her actual political affiliation.”

Currently she is in the parliament as an independent representing Employers That Exploit Migrant Labour.

That may not be how she self-identifies but it’s how the public identifies her that counts.

  12. The word woke is constantly used in a derogative manner, I believe woke means aware so what’s wrong with that? As to Darleen, she is/was a list member elected by her party, a party which she left therefore should automatically leave Parliament as should any other list member who loses the support of their party.

  13. Darleen, is not a Waka , jumper. Given the chance, if elect by the people, Darleen, in her present
predicament would, but not, appointed Party List, her only door, is marked exit. .

  14. The Greens need to make clear in a way that can’t be mistaken what side they are on, the side of the privileged new age hippies, or the side of the oppressed and exploited.

Getting rid of Tana is a good start.

But they need to do more.

If the Greens had any political nous, they would promote to the list a temporary migrant worker, with experience of exploitation at the hands of the likes of Darleen Tana, to replace Tana in parliament.

There are many articulate and authentic voices in this country, on temporary working visas, whose voices are being silenced in the interests of big corporate and small middle class businesses who benefit from migrant worker exploitation.

200,000 working people contributing to this country’s economy and tax base have no political representation at all. Zero, nill, nada. This makes them vulnerable to predators like Tana and her husband.

The promotion of a representative of the temporary migrant worker community to parliament would poke a finger in the eye of the middle class woke and big corporate exploiters of temporary migrant labour.

What makes this community of workers attractive to corporate and small business predators, is the less rights and vulnerability to exploitation, of temporary migrant workers, compared to New Zealand residents who enjoy the full rights of citizenship.

The promotion of an authentic and articulate temporary migrant worker to parliament on the Green Party ticket, will kill off for good any divisions and residual resentment and/or feelings of Martydom and victimhood that Tana and her supporters among the Greens and middle class small business and corporate business interests want to cultivate against the Greens inside and outside their party.

    18 May 2021, Radio NZ

Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has strongly rejected the suggestion Kiwis are work-shy and don’t want to take up jobs in sectors that have heavily relied on immigrant labour….
….She said the use of migrant labour had been a type of exploitation by some employers and also served to suppress wages in industry sectors, which was both unfair to migrants and New Zealander workers….
…..Reliance on a temporary workforce had doubled in the last 10 years to 200,000, Ardern said.

New Zealand employers, malign New Zealanders as ‘Work-Shy’. The reason for this slur against New Zealand workers, is that New Zealanders born here and permanent residents compared to migrant workers have rights as citizens. New Zealand citzens and residents can’t be deported if they don’t tug the forlock to their New Zealand employer. Migrant workers on the other hand, with no citizen rights, are more vulnerable to exploitation and abuse, which is why employers like Tana prefer them. (nothing to do with Kiwis being ‘work-shy’).

We direly need an authentic and articulate migrant worker voice in parliament to cut through this racist bullshit, that pits working people against each other.
