Gaza Strip

Attacks: There are no safe places for the militarily-dominated population in Gaza, who find themselves subjected to airstrikes and other missile attacks on buildings, homes and many essentialfacilities, as well as constant gunfire and invasions by Israeli forces. The Israeli Navy continues to fire missiles, targeting facilities and buildings along the entire Gaza shoreline.

Victims: 62 more people have been killed, bringing the total number killed in Gaza since 7 October to at least 42,289. Another 220 have been wounded, bringing that total to 98,684. The daily average number of men, women and children killed in Gaza is at least 113 and, that of those injured, is now more than 265.

Statement on Gaza by Joyce Msuya,

Acting Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and

Emergency Relief Co-ordinator

New York, 14 October 2024

There seems to be no end to the horrors that Palestinians in Gaza are forced to endure. Last night, Israeli forces struck tents near al Aqsa Hospital, in an area where people from northern Gaza were told to relocate. At least four people were burned to death. Scores of others, including women and children, are suffering severe burns. Just hours earlier, another strike on a school turned shelter in Nuseirat killed more than 20 people and injured scores of others, according to local sources.

There really is no safe place in Gaza for people to go. Fighting is intensifying in the north and essential supplies for survival are running out. No food aid has entered northern Gaza since October 1. These atrocities must end. Civilians and civilian infrastructure must always be protected.

Palestinians seen burning alive in horrifying videos following

Israeli bombing of Gaza hospital

A shocking video showed Palestinian patients burning alive after Israeli strikes targeted a hospital, while many criticised media coverage of the strikes. An Israeli strike targeting Al-Aqsa Martyr’s Hospital in central Gaza has left an unknown number of Palestinians, many of them wounded patients, burned alive, shocking videos of the incident have shown. The courtyard of the hospital in Deir Al-Balah was filled with makeshift tents housing displaced Palestinians who had nowhere else to go, following repeated forced evacuation orders from the Israeli army in northern Gaza.

Horrifying videos showed flames engulfing the hospital and surrounding tents. Screams and wails could be heard in the footage. One Palestinian man, who appeared to be connected to an IV drip, was seen burning alive, while a woman and a young girl were also seen in the same huge blaze. “I swear to God we can’t do anything. We can’t even put out the flame, no water, no civil defence, I swear we can’t do anything, and people are burning in front of us,” Gaza journalist Saleh Al-Jafarawi said, standing before the site.

The strike targeted the hospital and the surrounding courtyards at around 2am local time, while most patients and residents of the makeshift tent camp were still deep asleep.

Leslie Bravery is a Londoner with vivid World War Two memories of the Nazi blitz on his home town. In 1947/1948 His father explained to him what was happening to the Palestinians thus: “Any ideology or political movement that creates refugees in the process of realising its ambitions must be inhuman and should be opposed and condemned as unacceptable.” What followed confirmed this assessment of the Zionist entity a hundredfold. Now a retired flamenco guitarist, with a lifelong interest in the tragedy of what happened to the Palestinian people, he tries to publicise their plight. Because the daily injustices they suffer barely get a mention in the mainstream news media, Leslie edits/compiles a daily newsletter, In Occupied Palestine, for the Palestine Human Rights Campaign.
