FamilyBoost ‘nightmare’ adding pressure to families, union says
- Nicola Willis claimed more than 100,000 families would be eligible for a partial rebate of childcare fees through the FamilyBoost scheme earlier this year.
- But only around 40,000 families have registered for the scheme since it was introduced on July 1.
- Labour, the NZEI union and Child Poverty Action Group say it is not substantively helping struggling families.
…FamilyBoost was supposed to help 100 000 families, but the complexity of it is burning the poorest who need it most meaning 60 000 families are missing out!!!!
Even when National ‘try’ their callous concern only makes things far worse for the poorest amongst us!

You make a valid point about the landlords .It applies to all business why do they get tax breaks and subsidies and are able to devalue their assets so they pay less tax .We also subsidise the low wages they pay by us paying rent subsidies and working for families because wages are shit and house prices and rent just bat shit crazy

Very true Andrew when did the rules change that you can have as many kids as you like and the State will bring them up.
Very happy to help and support those that fall on hard times due to lose of job or illness but too many have no planning in their move to parenthood
Much like the thousands of families that were going to get a $250 a week tax cut .The only people who got that were landlords and none passed it on in lower rents .
Correct Gordon and things have got significantly worse since the National coalition of chaos took over.
And now they are wanting to take over Wellington .No doubt it will end up in the cook straight along with the ferries .They have done their best to close down retail and the jobs now they want to run down whats left .Must be a mate wanting a job so they will make them the commisioner .
