Gaza Strip
Attacks: There are no safe places for the militarily-dominated population in Gaza, who find themselves subjected to airstrikes and other missile attacks on buildings, homes and many essentialfacilities, as well as constant gunfire and invasions by Israeli forces. The Israeli Navy continues to fire missiles, targeting facilities and buildings along the entire Gaza shoreline.
Victims: 34 more people killed in Gaza now bring the total number of deaths, since 7 October, to at least 41,118. With another 96 wounded, that figure has now risen to over 95,125. The daily average number of men, women and children killed in Gaza is at least 120 and, of those injured, more than 279.
B’Tselem expert review of
the state of human rights in Israel/Palestine
Last week, our executive director Yuli Novak addressed the UN Security Council, after B’Tselem was invited to give an expert review of the state of human rights in Israel/Palestine in light of the war. In her speech, Yuli said: “This week, hundreds of thousands of Israelis have taken to the streets. They feel angry, desperate and betrayed by their government. They have understood, perhaps for the first time, that the Israeli government does not want to return the hostages in a deal, but to continue the war indefinitely. They see that the occupation and the settlements matter more than human life — and not only of Palestinians.”
She added: “Since the criminal Hamas-led attack on October 7th, I and every Israeli I know have been living in deep anxiety. The government is cynically exploiting our collective trauma to violently advance its project of cementing Israeli control over the entire land. To do that, it is waging war on the entire Palestinian people, including committing war crimes almost daily”.
The unequivocal moral stance we took sparked a vicious response from the government, which tries to smear anyone who speaks out against the war or in defense of human rights. Israeli Ambassador to the UN Danny Danon falsely claimed that Yuli omitted the hostages from her speech. Likud MK Tali Gottlieb called for her arrest and trial for aiding the enemy in wartime. Likud MK and Knesset Deputy Speaker Knesset Nissim Vaturi demanded the Ministry of the Interior revoke her citizenship.
These disgraceful attacks will not deter us from using every relevant platform, at home or abroad, to call for an immediate ceasefire and hostage deal. They will not stop us from repeating that the Israeli apartheid regime must end, in order to ensure human rights, justice and security for all people living in our region.
West Bank
Israeli Army attack – 1 wounded: Ramallah – 10:20, Israeli Occupation forces opened fire on and wounded a truck driver, Hayel Majed Daif Allah, near the Givat Asaf settlement road junction, after he lost control of of his vehicle and ran into an Israeli soldier.
Israeli Army attack – 4 wounded including 2 youngsters – hospitals raided: Tubas – since 01:15 on 11 September, Israeli forces have been storming the city as well as the town of Tamoun, raiding homes, besieging the Government Hospital and obstructing the movement of ambulances, wounding four people, including a 15-year-old boy, Majd Saher Nouri Bani Odeh, and a 17-year-old youth, Amin Nihad Muhammad Bisharat. The two others wounded are: Hamed Rashed Daraghmeh and Ahmed Rashed Daraghmeh. The Israeli military also used explosives to destroy a motor vehicle and has taken prisoner twenty people so far.
Israeli Army attack – 1 killed in refugee camp – 2 taken prisoner: Tubas – the Israeli Army, firing live ammunition in an attack on the al-Far’a refugee camp, killing a resident, Sufyan Jaber Fayez Abdul Jawad, and taking prisoner two other people, before withdrawing at 07:50.
Israeli Army attack – 3 killed – homes set ablaze – blown–up: Tulkarem – Since 13:45, Israeli forces have been storming the city, as well as the Tulkarem and Nour Shams refugee camps. Israeli forces carried out an airstrike on a vehicle in the city, killing three people: Imad al-Din Khader Masoud Shahada, Salah al-Din Ammar Saleh Badou and Muhammad Nasser Sabry Abu Atiya. Theyalso set fire to five homes, using explosives to destroy two others while searching several more and taking prisoner ten people. One other home was demolished. The Israel military continued tosiege the Government Hospital, the Al-Israa Hospital and the Palestinian Red Crescent Centre, obstructing the movement of ambulances.
Home invasion and home demolition: Jerusalem – 09:00, Israeli Occupation forces raided Biddu, demolished a house and shops, as well as other property.
Home invasion: Jerusalem – 12:00, Israeli forces raided Rafat village and searched the family home of the truck driver, shot and wounded after driving into an Israeli soldier, as well as takingengineering measurements of the house, for demolition.
Home invasion and occupation: Ramallah – 11:40, Israeli troops raided Ni’lin and set up a military post in a family home.
