More than 40,000 Palestinians have been killed in 10 months of war in Gaza, health ministry says
More than 40,000 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza since Israel launched its war on Hamas following the group’s October 7 attack, the health ministry in the enclave said Thursday, yet another dark milestone in the 10-month-old conflict.
The ministry said 40 people had died in Gaza during the past 24 hours, taking the total number of deaths since October 7 to 40,005 – about one in every 55 people in the enclave. More than 92,401 have been injured.
…the 40 000 number doesn’t capture the full horror…
Gaza rubble likely to conceal untold horrors to swell 40,000 death toll
Ten months into Israel’s war on Gaza, the death toll has passed 40,000, according to health authorities there. Most of the dead are civilians and the total represents nearly 2% of Gaza’s prewar population, or one in every 50 residents.
But even that figure does not tell the full story of Palestinian losses. “This number, 40,000, includes only bodies that were received and buried,” said Dr Marwan al-Hams, the director of field hospitals at the Palestinian ministry of health. “New procedures are being tested to include those who are missing or known to be under the rubble on the list of the dead, but they have not yet been approved.”
About 10,000 airstrike victims were thought to remain entombed in collapsed buildings, Hams said, because there was little heavy equipment or fuel to dig through steel and concrete ruins looking for them.
…so 40 000 plus 10 000 under the rubble plus all those who have died from the consequences of the war, which is now predicted at 186 000!!!…
Gaza toll could exceed 186,000, Lancet study says
The accumulative effects of Israel’s war on Gaza could mean the true death toll could reach more than 186,000 people, according to a study published in the journal Lancet.
According to Gaza’s Ministry of Health, more than 38,000 Palestinians have been killed since Israel launched its military offensive on October 7 in the wake of deadly Hamas attacks.
…Israel’s disproportionate military response is an ethnic cleansing war crime that has flattened most of Gaza, and the West has enabled that.
At some point we are going to have to come to terms with the inhumanity the Israeli’s have meted out to the Palestinian people and our role in allowing it.
I just don’t believe we comprehend the impact on Israel and America in terms of the hatred this next generation of children watching kids that look like them suffering monstrous violence on TicTok will produce.
The ramifications of Israel’s disproportionate and illegal war crime level violence are yet to be fully appreciated.
I still think Iran will respond to Israel’s killing of the Hamas leader by testing a nuclear weapon.
The risks of goading Putin

Last month I wrote that Zelensky would take the next gen weaponry from the West to launch an attack into Russia proper.
I argued he would feel pressured by the possibility of a Trump election and would take a leaf from the Hamas playbook by provoking a disproportionate response that would take attention off Gaza and back on the Ukraine.
The attack into Russia is a gamble for the Ukraine that risks a possible counter attack by a desperate Putin that justifies full war mobilisation by Moscow.
This could set in motion a range of outcomes that are all terribly destabilising including the possibility that Iran responds to the recent assasiantion of the Hamas leader in Tehran by successfully testing a nuclear weapon aided by Russia.
Whatever pause in domestic inflationary pressures we have seen recently are all on a global knife edge with a swarm of Black Swans heralding geopolitical meltdowns and global disruption.

The religious leaders of Iran are against nukes, while Russia/Putin are against escalating warfare, as evidenced by their own ‘limited’ operation in Ukraine, meaning, I don’t believe the ‘cautious’ Russian approach will change just because it is somewhere outside of their own region. Sure, they may or will arm various Middle Eastern forces in response to the US and NATO’s increased arming of Ukraine, but I imagine that this will be a tic for tac situation for the time being.
The world’s hegemon is unraveling and the entire world is in its crosshairs as a result.
Mr Bradbury. “Gaza’s Ministry of Health…..” well there’s a reliable source of truth, right? You are no doubt aware that this entire terrible conflict was initiated by Hamas, in full awareness that Israel’s response would be swift and bloody. You appear to have omitted that background from your post. Perhaps you could tell us how many bodies would be an appropriate response by Israel?
Here we ago. Are you another, every thing was just peachy before October last year? How many other sources of the likely toll, actual footage, and feigned apologies from that polish con artist, do you need to realise what bunch of arseholes this Israeli administration are? Protesting to free rapists not enough? Oh wait that actual Zionist not the population. They are every bit as feral as any Hamas “terrorist”.
Well, according to independent analysis by renowned medical journal The Lancet, the Gaza Ministry of health is indeed reliable. “No evidence of inflated mortality reporting from the Gaza Ministry of Health” – https://www.thelancet.com/journals/lancet/article/PIIS0140-6736(23)02713-7/fulltext

I was aware of this.
“Let us not ignore the truth among ourselves … politically we are the aggressors and they defend themselves… The country is theirs, because they inhabit it, whereas we want to come here and settle down, and in their view we want to take away from them their country. … Behind the terrorism [by the Arabs] is a movement, which though primitive is not devoid of idealism and self-sacrifice.”
