Why are we beating up on beneficiaries more than we are beating up on Banks, Supermarkets, Big Oil, Big Tobacco and Big Polluters???
The jackboot of the State should always be on the throats of the most powerful so that their interests don’t warp our Democracy, the jackboot of the State SHOULD NOT be used on its citizens!
Why bash on the weakest, poorest members of society while enriching the wealthiest?
An evangelical right wing Christian who owns 7 properties taking from the poorest amongst us while taking huge privileges from the tax payer himself.
He has the fucking audacity to claim this…

…Here’s the National Party Welfare Policy in two frames…

We need to be far kinder to individuals and far fucking crueller to Corporations!
If Beneficiaries were cigarettes, National would have found a way to protect them.

Why not kick people while they are down at their lowest its good fun for fuck sake .Us rich cunts have had it good for so long then the last government came along and started leveling the playing field .Well we are not having that so we will sack 100k more so we have more to kick the shit out of .
This is the worst government that NZ has ever had and is a blight on all the real christians out there who must be wondering what has gone wrong with the bald headed gang leader and his band of sick christian red neck gun toting chain smoking comrades
If, as they say, only a small percentage of beneficiaries try to rort the system, it is most peculiar that they are making such a big deal about it. Whether it’s another grubby distraction from the cost- of – living-crisis, and other crises, or yet another neolib divide-and-rule tactic, it’s not ok. Monitoring how an apparently fiscally insignificant group of people spend the dole could easily be extended to monitoring how every pensioner spends their’s. Robin Hood in reverse negates the “ Do unto others” message of the Nazarene who he purports to support, and closely resembles a heretic, IMO.
As a pensioner I fail to see why the pension is not means tested .So many people I know are double dipping and earning big money or own several rentals .Maybe those property owners should have to divest one property at the time they retire ,as after all thats the excuse they use for hoarding any number of houses .We hear them saying (,Im investing for my retirement ) so maybe instead of giving them tax breaks they should be given the message to start living off the retirement investment .Then the argument comes up what will I be leaving my kids if I sell one of the houses to fund my life .Well might be time for the kids to stop waiting for mum and dad to die and collect .I have told my kids that the welfare of their parents comes first ,whats the point of us giving you all our wealth and living in a cardboard box under a bridge our selves .
The issue you bring up is that unless the wealthy receive a Fair Go and get some tax back in old age then they will make dam sure the bottomfeeders who decided not to be or couldn’t be landlords or forex dealers don’t receive a penny more than themselves in old age.
Do beneficiaries donate millions to National? Do they vote for National? So who cares? Not National.
Neither do Labour, for similar reasons.
MSD is the last government department you would want advice from, with their many documented cases of theft and client abuse. For them to be making threats and demands is ludicrous. The sooner MSD is replaced by accounting administrators the better, that is, give everyone a base benefit for ever and then just have accounting staff overseeing everyone’s base salary with adjustments depending on how much they work. MSD staff are not social workers, they never have been, so it is time to put these people on the jobseeker benefit.
Total unemployed have gone up 10% since National came to power so this implies the job market is becoming dire for jobseekers. National is also gutting the public sector, worsening the unemployment problem while destroying social cohesion. The employed are defined as working one hour a week in NZ so if the Minister is wetting her pants over one hours work then why don’t her staff actually create these micro jobs and connect jobseekers with employers, instead of sitting on their arse dreaming up ways to hurt people. They could clear jobseekers off the books and the Minister could sleep easy at night happy in the knowledge that someone somewhere in NZ is working one hour a week. One hour job examples:
Picking up rubbish on the walk down to WINZ
Proof reading WINZ letters for spelling mistakes or signs of abuse
Scanning social media for abusive posts from MSD staff
Monitoring MSD staff accounts for irregularities
The benefit is a great idea to help people when they lose their job to stop them losing everything but it is a trap if you do not move off it quickly. Those who are ill or have mental problems should be helped more with money and mentoring.By cutting down the number who are pulling in benefits who should not be then more could go to those who deserve it
These are all great suggestions Trevor, tell me again why you think that the coalition would even consider them?
