Luxon’s increasingly gated accountability

That's how you know the NZ Right have no values other than expediency because they never apply the same scrutiny to their own that they demand from us!

PM ‘ducking for cover’ from media questions – opposition

Key points

    • Luxon will no longer appear at Parliament’s “bridge run” on Tuesdays – traditionally an opportunity for the media to ask questions.
    • Asked about why he made the change, the PM explained that reporters still had “heaps” of other opportunities, including on Tuesdays.
    • However, opposition leaders have said Luxon is ducking questions about his Government. One commentator says the move could be short-sighted.

It’s actually a lot worse than this, I pointed this out last month!

It’s not just that he has dumped the bridge run on Tuesdays, but he’s also done this…

Luxon cuts frequency of post-Cabinet press conference

By skipping most non-sitting weeks, Christopher Luxon could end up holding 25 percent fewer press conferences than his Labour predecessors

…at a time when this Government are abusing power like never before by ramming more policy through under urgency than any Government ever, Luxon is screwing the accountability scrum further by reducing press conferences by 25% WHILE reducing weekly contact with journalists!

This as Newshub folds and we have less journalism!

This Government are adopting deeply controversial culture war fantasies as social policy when there is less fourth estate scrutiny!

If Jacinda had ever pulled a stunt like this, the ZB Trolls would be screaming, Luxon does it and not a whisper.

That’s how you know the NZ Right have no values other than expediency because they never apply the same scrutiny to their own that they demand from us!

The Political Left fall in love, the Political Right fall in line.

National are gerrymandering fourth estate accountability to smoother Democracy as our Fourth Estate Guard dogs get euthanised.

  1. 100%. Only a Neanderthal wouldn’t know that he’s doing this because he can’t cope. Sank himself long ago bleating, “ I’m entitled”, and that had to be due to stupidity.

  2. More evidence he is the worst PM in history, of that there is no debate. Corrupt and a coward, blaming the media as he has done previously shows he is out of his depth.

    • His popularity is climbing while Hipkins is declining .What does that say about Hipkins.
Popularity is fickle one minute top dog next you are not At this point some fold and jump ship taking all with them others fight back and prove the doubters wrong .

  3. Hiding under his mummy’s apron won’t help. Anyone with half a brain knows why and they also know Luxon is not cut out for the job.
    He’s used to immediate obedience.
He’s not used to having his decisions questioned, discussed and found wanting.
People who hide their activities and make up rules to suit themselves are known as crooks or dictators and tyrants.

His pathetic repeating of ‘I’m entitled’ was whiny. In that respect he resembles the orange one. ‘It’s not fair!’
Maybe his every utterance is met with suspicion and derision in his caucus and therefore he seeks to reduce his exposure to such disloyalty by cutting the public out.
‘O what a tangled web we weave, when first we practise to deceive,
But when we’ve practised quite awhile, how vastly we improve our style.’ J.R. Pope. Ladybird Favourite Poems.
    He needs watching.

  4. Corrupt Gnat “ Blaming the media… shows he is out of his depth”. Druggie Prince Harry does exactly the same thing and both of them need to man up or vamoose.

  5. And the big leading story on TVNZ news for two nights running? The bad animal care at Orana Park. Not saying it isn’t a story, but where is the perspective?

    • You only needed to see the condition/age of the work vehicles at Orana Park to see that their problem is not enough income/customers. TVNZ putting the boot in is not likely to improve that situation, I would be more impressed if they had called for better accountability & provided a way for people who care to do or provide something that would improve the situation, especially for the animals.

      • MPI have done an immediate check and found no evidence of neglect. Another none story listening to the story they wanted to hear not proved by fact.
We are regular visitors to the park and it always seems fine and with good visitor numbers and I no way run down.
There will always be injuries to animals which happen in the best run farms

  6. Luxon ducking questions further highlights the need for better regulation ensuring more accountability from our MPs

    • The Chairman. Yep, the only accountability is booting them out at election time, and that’s a flaw in the democratic system which needs to be addressed. Unfortunately, parliamentarians are the least likely persons to address this.

  7. Luxon will have to continue on his mission to sell off health, education, housing ,transport and roading to the highest bidder to pay for this .Then there needs to be serious consideration to returning stolen land as well .
