Coalition parties get lift in latest poll
The poll had National at 36%, up by 2% and Labour on 31%, down by 1%, since its June poll.
The Greens had a 2% drop to 12%, while ACT was up 1%, to 8%, while NZ First rose from 5.4% to 6.3%, and Te Pāti Māori dropped from 4.2% to 3.9%.
I fear the current thinking inside the Māori Party is that they can continue with their Malcolm X radical identity agenda (which is very appealing on social media) and is popular in the face of this Government’s anti-Māori and anti-Treaty agenda and as the economy sinks they will be needed in any Labour/Green Government and it will be during this negotiation process, they will be able to force some big changes through.
The danger is that the Malcolm X radical identity agenda shtick becomes ammunition for Winston, ACT and National.
Pakeha want to work with Māori, risking their support creates the possibility of a political backlash.
The more radical the Māori Party get, the closer Labour are pushed towards NZF as a possible circuit breaker.
This is why an agreed shared policy platform matters before the election on an agreed set of policies.
As for the Poll, well…
…Chippy has moved on from sausage rolls to pies, one day he’ll get to a wealth tax.
The complacency of the Political Left as the economy causes massive social carnage is disgraceful.
At some point someone inside Labour is going to have to step up and say something right?
In the 40th Year of the neoliberal experiment that Labour unleashed, how different is today’s party from that economic mutilation?
Martyn – Correct…However, I would be a bit surprised if NZ First signs up with Labour while Hipkins is the Leader.
Agree Nathan Winston carries a grudge like no one else so i cannot see the axe being buried unless it is into Hipkins head.
Winston would never join the racist party TPM or the Greens
Will NZ First just shrivel up & die when Winston becomes Governor General?
Every other politician hopes NZ First will shrivel and die when Peters leaves the scene. He looks like he’s good for another 10 to 20 years and his successor is about to go on a provincial tour with a big bag of money to give away. Kind of like a more bombastic and less benign Selwyn Too good.
Every other politician is delighted when another Green mp pours petrol on themselves and asks for a match.
And every other politician just wishes TPM would shut the fuck up
Chippy has said he will never work with Winston again and why would he .Besides NZ first will implode when the old coot goes down the Biden path which he is well on the way to doing.
Te Pati is a foil for ACT more than NZ first ,both being as extreme as each other .How ever ACT cares about no one except the big money grabbers .The shame is once they are finished with David as their gopher he will find himself on the scrap heap at the winz office .cant come soon enough really.
Will the greens see a slow slide down the polls over the next year as Chloe realises she is co-captain of a ship with no rudder.
Will Labour stick with Chippy as no one will raise their hand to take over the party whilst the polling is so poor.
Interesting year or two ahead…..
Nothing will occur while Chippy remains leader of the Labour Party.
And you will keep wanking about nothing

Problem for TPM is they have gone so far down the separatist rabbit hole that they will not be a workable member of any future coalition government. TPM will sit on the opposition benches were, being quite frank, they are most comfortable. Not for them the desire to be part of a government for the betterment of ALL New Zealanders and representing Maori interest for that betterment.
Makes one wonder if a second Maori party made up of more “conservative” members may be on offering? After all, voting for TPM means never having a voice in the government sitting on the treasury benches. Would make voting in the Maori seats more combative having more parties representing Maori interests.
Maybe NZFirst will morph into a more Maori focused party once Peters has left?

Labour didn’t unleash anything. roger had already killed it off leaving a wolf in snakes clothing living inside Natzo sheep. Read the chilling articles in the Listeners dated 13-19 2024 and 20-26 2024 respectively. ” New Dawn” The Rise of Rogernomics and how it continues to shape our lives” And “Cash and Burn” . The sharemarket crash was the beginning of the end for the Lange – Douglas government but not the neo-liberal economic path that would change New Zealand. ”
There’s also an excellent if not tempting to have a tantrum while smashing crockery book review in The Guardian titled :
The big idea: why we need to stop former prime ministers cashing in

Our politic is entirely corrupt. Our politicians aren’t politicians. They’re simply greedy opportunists snuffling about for the next sweet deal.
chris hipkins knows damn well that all he has to do is eat pies for Jesus then wait to be voted out. Then he could head off to make money using his ministerial knowledge and connections.
Aotearoa / New Zealand must ask the King and the Crown for a very public royal commission of inquiry spanning the last 88 years at least, since the formation of the national party. Oh look! The skies have just darkened ?
What have I been writing, about how our politics wasn’t politics? It was, and still is, a dodgy bunch of fuckers groomed to enable they whole sale theft of farmer earned money? Farmers, who are 2-3 % of AO/NZ’s population.
Remember, years ago now on Tumeke @ Countryboy wrote that that terrible clawing sound at the kitchen doors was the truth trying to get in.
Well, here it comes fuckers!

The prospect of a potential future Labour/Green Government depending on TPM to reach 61 seats will poison both parties’ chances of attracting the necessary center voters. Not impossible, just much harder.
Why vote Labour or Greens when you also voting for the racial supremacists of TPM to get some power?
On the button Ada.
By now, we should all know that the current so-called left-wing parties won’t deliver the change required to turn the neoliberal created demise around.
Their complacency however, largely comes from the support we continue to show them via the polls.
Therefore, it is largely up to us to tell them (by no longer supporting them in the polls) that they are not good enough.
Our failure to do that will allow the continuation of our demise.
We need to speak in tandem as no one voter can do this on their own.
Are you lot up to the challenge?
” Pakeha want to work with Māori, risking their support creates the possibility of a political backlash. ”
And there is the statement that is the age old problem , the view of ‘ the white way is the superior one’ .
” Come on you chaps bend to our will . ”
With that statement, we’re back in the early 1800’s plotting subversive treaties across the globe for takeovers.
“We just want to subjugate and exploit you some more.”
And look where that got us – into the 21st century, burning the planet , still committing violence against others for power and greedy takeovers for the few..
Such progress!!! Do you know the world still has a slave trade, women are still raped as a weapon of war, communities are still poisoned or wiped out by extractive exploitation?
We’re just changing the name on the recipe to something civilised like ‘ neoliberalism ‘ and Willis’ ‘ targetted repriorisation’ to cover up words like ‘ massacre’.
But hey keep bringing on the statements to make the indigenous people look deficient FFS.
On TV last night I hear someone remark that Boris threw away the opportunity to make his mark as he won with a huge majority
the same will be said about Jacinda .She could have set a pathway for the left to reign for years but failed badly.
She quite simply didn’t know what to do,that’s why she abandoned ship.
The simple-minded can prate about Jacinda and what she should have done,as if she was a dictator. We know that deep business and local and overseas-grown farmers are actually the powering and deciding default force in the absence of any strength, vision or integrity from any of our political parties here.
We have an ‘economic mutilation’, sure, but also think mutation.
But we can watch google-eyed at a real enfolding from the denizens of the demonic art; cheaper than the formally presented such as:
