The assassination attempt on Trump has sparked a frenzy from NZ Pundits asking if Political Violence could occur here.
There is a fundamental problem with that question which is that the violence Trump experienced wasn’t political violence, it was America’s ordinary gun violence that almost took Trump’s life.
The shooter wasn’t a democrat.
Wasn’t an illegal immigrant.
Wasn’t an LGBTQ person.
Wasn’t an African American.
It wasn’t anyone Trump said is poisoning the blood of Americans.
The shooter was white, male, young and a registered republican, this wasn’t political violence, it was the same old gun violence that has always cursed America, a gun violence that Republicans hypocritically refuse to do anything about!
Trump wasn’t attacked by a transgender member of MS-13 who snuck in with the Mexican caravan to be radicalized by Black Lives Matter while majoring in Critical Race Theory at Antifa University, he was shot by another white boy Republican who was bullied at school and who took vengeance at his own insignificance into his own hands at an attempt at immortality.
These are Republicans worshipping the gun this sad lonely white boy Republican used…

…so the violence that Trump experienced wasn’t political violence, it was just America’s ordinary crisis of wounded masculinity mixing with easy availability of guns and while ACT are doing all they can to get AR-15s into NZ, the background situation in NZ of a lone wolf loser taking a shot is far less likely.
So, could political violence happen here?
Māori Radicalism: The reality is that if you are affronted by this Government’s anti-Māori and anti-Treaty agenda, you have legitimate and powerful political voices and movements to utilise in fighting that agenda. It is highly unlikely political violence will come out of the Māori political world.
Eco Terrorism: The philosophical construct would focus on blowing up polluter infrastructure, it wouldn’t manifest as personal violence.
White Supremacy: This is the most likely place where attempts to conflate violence could occur. Extremists burning a Mārae would kick off ferocious responses.
Anti-Vaxx: If you believe the vaccine is evil and Jesus is your friend, no level of violence is unjustified. Watch as the sovereign sheriff radicals become very disappointed that Jacinda won’t be hung on the steps of Parliament.
Chinese Grey Zone diaspora: If China launched a full Grey Zone attack on NZ, you would see Communist Member diaspora starting protests and running low level harassment campaigns in neighbourhoods for political means.
Mental Health Violence: With our joke of a mental health system, it is fare more likely that any violence meted out to politicians will be mental health driven, not politivcal.

I feel angry at most of the actions of this new government however I also believe that we should love our enemies and pray for those in power so hopefully others can adopt the same attitude till we get a chance to vote them out. As long as the freedom to peacefully protest is available that should reduce the risk of violence.
Or Option F: All of the above.
No mention of the political violence already being meted out on the poor and minorities, or what’s going on in winz offices, hospitals, motels and supermarkets at the front lines of it’s implementation.
If you think it’s bad now, a couple years of this bollocks and the big worry will be if all the pigs are going to OZ, who are they going to give the bushmasters and glocks to?
We’ve already had Maori radicals arrested and charged for terrorism. The fact that they got off the charges is more a reflection on our piss-weak judicial system than their innocence. This is the main threat to peace in NZ, what with the hate-filled polemic coming from the Maori Party it’s not hard to see a radicalized, meth addicted young Maori man taking matters into his own hands. Things may come to a head if and when ACT puts their Treaty referendum before Parliament.
Yep just like those young Maori that pole axed all those saintly pom soldiers back in the 1830’s aye!
James Shaw got punched in the face which is sort of political. And recently people went berserk on the grounds of Parliament protesting the forced vaccinations and ridiculous pseudoscience. Political violence comes in many forms and subjugating a population and shaming them for their health status is up there with the worst (that is what this is).
In the case of the new government its really a case of give them enough rope. I expect them to be out at the next election having screwed over the converts they got from Labour’s inaction. However, that’s my take. I expect there to be a lot of people who will take a much less passive attitude. Most likely this group will target the demographic vilified by the coalition. So potentially the trades hall bombing or other acts, maybe attacks on food banks or MSD. There is also a not insignificant group who are ready to kick off at the first sign of what they perceive as organized Māori resistance. This is the group who will have hidden their guns. So potentially Seymour could indirectly trigger violence as a an attack on the backlash to his policies. Dangerous times, since the one advocating the current policy agenda are insulated in their bubbles. As usual its ordinary people who get hurt.
There are various dark twisted fuckers in this small population country, some due to enduring post colonial denialism–sitting on stolen land–and others to the digital world and rabbit holes, and economic inequity and subsequent crime.
Political violence will take its own course depending on how the State Forces behave towards the oppressed and exploited of Aotearoa NZ, and how working class organisations get active.
