After extraordinary interview – Green leadership must expel Darleen Tana immediately

Jesus H Christ!

You are never sure how much cool aid a rogue MP is sipping until you hear it directly from their own lips and based on that, Darleen Tana has drunk a whole keg of cool aid.

Identity Politics has become such a driving force of politics on the woke left that it’s not until they justify something using it that you pull back in shock.

Darleen’e remarkable interview with TVNZ last night popped any pretence that girlfriend is leaving.

Her justification for staying in Parliament, despite quitting the Greens after their investigated allegations of migrant worker exploitation is that she is a Māori women!

I’m not kidding…

Darleen Tana: ‘I’ve been silenced, I’ve been isolated’

“I am built to manaaki (care). As a wahine Māori, it’s all I know how to do.”

While the Green Party has asked Tana to resign from Parliament, it does have a possible tool at its disposal to force her removal – using the Electoral (Integrity) Amendment Act – more commonly known as the “waka-jumping” law.

The party could write to the Speaker of the House Gerry Brownlee stating Tana’s resignation from the Green Party distorted the proportionality of Parliament and thus she should be removed so the next Green Party list candidate can become an MP.

However, the Greens have a storied history with the legislation, and have vehemently opposed it in the past.

Tana said whether or not the party invoked the law was up to the party and its membership.

“I understand the whakapapa, the history, the reluctance.”

Asked how taxpayers might get value for money paying Tana’s salary as an independent MP – roughly $400,000 over the remainder of the term, Tana said that was part of her considerations in whether to stay or go.

“I went in there to push the dial for oceans protection… I am the only MP who is able to wrap the science, the matauranga Māori, and the business perspective to find a solution that works for everybody. I had gone in there to work across the House.

“I’ve heard Chlöe say no one person is above the kaupapa, but sometimes we need to be able to work right across the [House] to achieve the kaupapa.”

Tana said under the public scrutiny that came with the situation, she had “learned a lot” about herself.

“I’ve been surprised about how resilient we are.”

She said she didn’t see the idea of staying in Parliament as a fight.

“Maybe it’s my tikanga Māori perspective.”

…wow.

Wow.

She should stay in Parliament despite being elected on the Green Party list, despite quitting that Party and despite being asked to leave Parliament by the Greens after they investigated her for migrant worker exploitation allegations against  – she should stay in parliament because she’s a Māori women who understands science from a Māori perspective???

Wow.

That level of delusion tells you everting you need to know. She’s never leaving, and when you consider how tough the Electric Bike market is due to their need t exploit migrant labour, her payment while staying in Parliament is the best wicket Darleen has ever been on.

She. Is. Not. Leaving.

The Greens must implement waka jumping immediately to get rid of her or she will remain as a blight on the Party.

The problem is the box ticking identity politics candidate selection process and the new voting structures that give ‘lived experience’ groups so much power in the party list selection.

That problem will become immediately apparent with the new candidate off the Party list…

…Jesus wept!

You can’t write satire funnier than this.

Remember, the Greens had a candidate in the last election, who was pole dancing for funds…

…I’ll pay for her to keep her clothes on.

The deep problems of woke identity politic activists working their way into the leadership structure will remain, but the immediacy of Darleen going now is more important after she has exposed why she believes she should stay.

If Darleen cared about the Greens she would have fallen on her sword immediately, but like Millennials she has managed to turn this into an issue about her.

The Greens are reaping what they’ve sowed and it’s painful to watch.

  1. What a muppet. She playing the identity card just like other politicians play the faith card when it suits.

  2. Just dump her she is of no use to anyone including herself .Just look at the others that have come unstuck by being dickheads like shama and that other maori woman who jumped ship and thought she was a shoe in to get elected .Where are they now ?licking their wounds and frequenting MSD offices some where .

  3. Ever wonder whatever did happen to those, usually the girls in Social Studies with the wacky ideas and eye rolling ability to come up with arguments that were so pig shit crazy and anti commonsensical it could make your brain ache if you took them as seriously as they thought they so deserved?

    Well….

    • Those girls go onto the Wellington City Council and are hell for the ratepayers and citizens who actually keep the town ticking over. Sometimes they get into Parliament, and being Dunder-Kruger afflicted, are plain bloody awful and rewrite history better than any male warmonger ever did.

    • most of the outspoken bat shit crazies I knew became directors and managers. it was the quiet strugglers who “found” themselves, at a University Arts Faculty, who became politicians.

  4. NoT many good mps in parliament really .ACT is full of greedy cunts that just want fuck the poor even more .NZ First is full of aluminium hatters from the river of filth who just want public lynchings because they feel guilty because they are still spreading the virus .
Then National is full of hate because they dont want Maori to get a head and actually own something because they wont be able them for crime or just about any thing else .
Labour are laying low so who knows what their people are like .
Debbie and the hat wearer are too busy trying to compete with national on being haters ,they have forgotten about the voters .The young lady from Hauraki should jump onto another waka because she wont achieve anything being tagged with those two .

    • And yet she’s a Green isn’t she.
Only fools mistake virtue signaling for virtue.

At last count there are about 12 percent of you.

  5. “… she has managed to turn this into an issue about her.” Precisely. Victimhood is the current woke dialectic, and sidelining the exploitation of immigrant labour to achieve this is disgraceful, perhaps more so having a professional hairdo and high end clothing beyond the budget of many wahine to publicly do so.

  6. She is a classic personal opportunist and should be dumped from Parliament and forfeit that impressive salary and benefits that I help pay for! She is full of shit basically, and most political parties have dodge pots on board–“don’t you know who I am?” types like Sam (lets go out clubbing) Uffindel and so many others over the years.

The Greens have had a hammering the past year…but…like it or not their policies are the future, and the now, if you take the time to read them. Many young people of the new gens will keep supporting the Greens despite flawed individuals and scandals because they get Climate Disaster and capitalism running amok. Such a shame Efeso died.

  7. Again, Victor Billot’s Ode to Chlöe, rather neatly summarizing the Greens’ dilemma:

    Last Stand

    The Green banner flies proudly

    Over the remote desert fort.

It has been many long months

    Since the siege began

    On 14 October 2023.

The Green ranks are growing thin.

    Constant bombardment from the artillery

    Of King Luxon’s mercenaries;

    Mutineers and deserters gnaw

They have one bottle of water left.

They have two band aids kept aside.

They have three blank cartridges remaining.

But Captain Chlöe of the First Woke Hussars

    Battles on resolutely

    As waves of screeching dervishes

Painted in blue woad swarm the walls.

“We can’t hold out much longer,”

    Mutters Captain Chlöe

As she scans the horizon with her field glasses.

But yet – there coming over the horizon

Riding on a low emission mule:

    Reinforcements!

The remaining troops pull out semaphore flags

    And virtue signal desperately

At the lonely figure clopping towards them.

    “What have you got, comrade?”

    Shouts Captain Chlöe.

    “Water, bandages or ammunition?”

    Gunner Benjamin Doyle, MA,

Number 18 on the Green list,

Holds up a large cardboard box.

    “Community intersectional reflexivity,”

    He replies, handing over

A complete set of his University of Auckland

    Research papers.

    • While an admirer of Victor’s work…he has missed the target here…The Greens will continue to get support from many younger new gen people…Climate Disaster and capitalism running amok are well understood by them. Scandals and a few dodge pots in the ranks will not halt the accension of the Greens.

Identarians will be relegated over time if the Green policies are to be implemented. NZ Greens and Te Pāti Māori have the best programme for working class people.

      • Climate Disaster and capitalism running amok are well understood by them.

Not true. They optimistically think they will convince India to be poor.

  8. I thought the issue was whether Darleen had been honest with the Greens about her involvement with her husband’s business, and that she was found not to have been. If she now says that as a Maori woman all she knows how to do is care, then she must go. Honesty and integrity must not be jettisoned in the interests being ethnically authentic, and that applies to all politicians.

Claiming that some allegedly unique perspective entitles her to stay on in Parliament is absurd as well as non-provable, and the Greens must act in the interests of the greater good.

  9. I never agreed with nor saw any benefit in Rod Donald’s/Jennette Fitzgerald’s objection to the Party hoping legislation.

    • Agree, do not understand it Get voted in under one banner, stay under that banner, otherwise get voted in on independent merits at next election. Anything else false and a rip off of public money. It is idealistic to think that individuals will wake up and go to the good party, if they do ..let them be elected or on list. Just feather nesting otherwise. Get. Rid. Of . Her. NOW. I say this as a Green party member.

  10. Unfortunately, there’s a few of them about. I’m not sure how you educate those in charge of candidate selection on how to be better judges of character. especially since age and experience are no longer in fashion.
This specimen really is the pits, but then there’s a few in local gummint and tiers 1,2 and 3 of the uncivil service.
Look at them, look at them. Don’t just look either. Ridicule them at every opportunity

    • Apparently Darleen was personally selected by Marama, and although her nomenclature isn’t exactly the most confidence inspiring, she has the moko, and does the hugging part ok.

  11. I think that Darleen could stay in parliament and reinvent herself as an advocate for small business. She has a lot of experience in this area and the 400k salary would be much more than she could earn for her family than going back to selling bikes with her husband.

  12. How can anyone seriously consider this party get the chance to rule the country in a coalition. We would have record crime as offenders would be given a lecture by Chloe just like Darleen was treated and told to do the right thing

  13. Chloe is a good communicator, surely it’s possible for her to convey a distinction between removing an MP for migrant exploitation rather than because of leadership overreach.

Who is Tana actually representing in Parliament – the 0.00001% of people keen to see the return of the slave trade?

    Sack her now.

  14. Maiki was good but did not ask the very question she should have: “The Green party says it will release the report providing it has (Tana’s) permission. If there’s nothing to hide, why will you not give that permission, Tana?”
    Yes, Tana, why?

    • Update: Tonight’s news is that Ms Tana has given a verbal assurance for the report’s release. So far, so good.

  15. Haven’t they already? isn’t she alone in the wilderness of the back benches at the moment? she may as well join Te Pati Maori for a real lesson on exploitation

  16. Tana’s bullshit just demonstrates the failure of the MMP system.
She was not voted into Parliament by the people….she did not win her seat. She simply gained a seat through selection of Party process.
If she is she does not meet the standards of the Party she was selected by, she has zero right to be there. Simple as that.
The Greens need to grow some balls and oust her. That is democracy

  17. The Waka jumping law is a good one, it’s democratic. No idea why Greens against it as a polipoliticitian is elected by the people in the party. You jump, you out.. You get elected again by de people at de next election. Til then, you wait it out. On der outside. Fuck you trying to get a free ride. Fuck you.
