Yea, she’s well out of her depth and hinting that some members of the KiwiRail directors maybe let go(words to that effect). Yet, her decision to scap the signed contract for two new ferries, which would have been larger and both able to handle rail, demonstrates her inexperience and arrogance, she’s put NZ critical transportation infrastructure back to pre Aromoana days of the early 60s, it could take a decade and a heap of money to rectify her economic stupidity.

Go big or go home! Reverse the ferry purchase decision with Hyundai, and announce a new ferry terminal at Clifford Bay. WIN WIN for NACT FIRST – gets them out of the political strait jacket they’ve put themselves in and changes the project enough to make it their own. It will cost a fortune and Nicola would have to eat humble pie.

I hope so Upside Down. Picton needs the ferries in good order, eg not parking across the water-ways, getting stuck etc and NZ/AO needs to stop taking on big projects that will be paid off over 30 years. We may never get out of a cycle of storms, damage, road repairs, people in tents with expensive houses red-stickered etc – repeat. And the only people who come here will be the multitude looking for a safe haven and pushing 100 Kiwi people off the various wharves each morning providing the latest drama.
Problem is that those who have to “suck it up” as you put it, are definitely not the ones who support this government. You are absolutely right in saying that those benefiting from this government are the last ones that actually need any support.
