NZ First tries to introduce controversial bathroom bill

New Zealand First is introducing its controversial Fair Access to Bathrooms Bill to Parliament today.

The bill would require all new non-domestic publicly accessible buildings provide separate, clearly demarcated, unisex and single sex bathrooms.

If passed, it would also introduce a fine, “for anyone who uses a single-sex toilet and is not of the sex for which that toilet has been designated”.

The vast majority of members’ bills may not make it to law — or even pass their first reading (the first of three votes to progress a bill), to select committee.

A government can also veto a members’ bill, if, in that their view, the proposal would have “more than a minor impact” on the government’s fiscals should it become law.

The concept of the bill was not included in the coalition agreement, with Prime Minister Christopher Luxon rejecting and describing the idea as “on another planet” last year.

In a statement, New Zealand First said it will “stop the growing trend” of mixed-sex toilet spaces which “impact the privacy and dignity of everyone utilising these facilities”.

New Zealand First leader Winston Peters added: “New Zealand First has listened to New Zealanders and we know that there is a silent majority anticipating such legislation”.

“We have seen a similar move in the United Kingdom this month, with building regulations due to change later this year, making it compulsory to provide separate facilities for men and women for all new restaurants, bars, offices and shopping centres.”

To stay over 5%, NZ First are held hostage by the Conspiracy Swamp Kingdom, so much so  they are willing to implement fetid anti-vaxx nonsense like not signing the latest WHO legislation and this crazy Trans hate garbage.

Now, I have been more critical of the manner in which the Trans community have gone about alienating every voter we can get on the Left than almost anyone else on the Left!

It is righteous to demand why we are allowing middle class identity politic activists to alienate us from ever winning power by dying in a ditch over less than 1% of the electorate.

We should have that debate and I’m here for it 24/7 because I believe the common ground between us is far more important than your self created identity.

But remember, beyond the criticism of their tactics, strategy and basic human decency –  ultimately we want our Trans brothers and sisters to live with the same agency as every other citizen, because that’s what Liberal Progressive Democracy strives for right?

I think the Trans community and their woke allies have only managed to drive good people away from our movement and that their cancel culture nonsense came to people of no power suddenly gaining cultural currency in the early days of the hashtag outrage olympics, but the danger of allowing our feelings to trump reason is that it opens the door for the right to allow their feelings to dominate thinking.

That’s what this fucking garbage is – hateful right feelings!

This isn’t social policy, it’s a culture war revenge fantasy!

What the fuck are we actually agreeing to here?

The fucking State is entering my toilet?

That’s what NZ First’s law will mean, the fucking State is entering my toilet to check my gender before I take a shit???

Fuck. The. Fuck. Off!

It is essential for every person to break this law, and I certainly intend to.

We are not allowing NZ First to weaponise bigotry and just putting up with it!

Laws should be passed because they are based in justice, this is based in spite and malice and will be used by every NZ First Toilet Karen to persecute anyone with purple dyed hair.

As soon as this law passes, I am using Womens toilets and photographing me using them and then posting them online.

Come and arrest me.

I’m not going to allow the fringiest fringe fringe dweller that is NZ First to dictate law that will weaponised by their Toilet Karens.

We don’t let the State pass law to be used as weapons by their culture war thugs, that is fascism and I sure as fuck won’t stand by and allow that the State use their power to just beat the shit out people their supporters detest.

That’s not what we pass law for in this country.

This anti-Trans toilet legislation by extremists inside NZ First is not who we are and is beneath us as a people.

  1. I said before the election that if these clowns were elected ,women ,brown people ,gays and any other non white supremists would be fucked over .So far I am being proven correct .We can now throw every kid from the lowest 90% into the mix as well

  2. I would have thought that the size of the publicly accessible building would determine the WC provided. Schools and large meeting/entertainment areas that need more toilets can provide seperate facilities in an economic way, for smaller facilities as long as seperate cubicles are provided and the wash space has multiple basin facilities if there are multiple cubicles sensible people should be happy.
I suspect that the cost will limit support for Peters plan but photographing yourself in women’s toilets if it passes sounds like a nutty idea.

    • Schools have traditionally had separate facilities for boys and girls; the latter, especially if menstruating, can be discomforted with boys in close proximity, perhaps if inserting a tampax, or checking the back of a skirt in shared mirror space. There is also such a thing as natural modesty.

Lots of blokes don’t wash their hands anyway, they just shake the drops off, and seeing any penised person emerging from a cubicle still zipping himself up is a bit yucky, or even worrying for some. Public places, and even pit stops by war memorials in country towns, have historically had separate toilet facilities for men and women, and having another choice as well is something to applaud.

      • Yes I was thinking that female requirements made separate toilet areas vital although the size of the building could mean that 2 seperate unisex WC wash area units cover the required need, it would depend on the customer male female ratio also. Why not let the all knowing market that is forced upon us in other things decide? If customers don’t like the toilet or business won’t rent buildings with limited toilets they will learn to build what the people want

  3. What an idiot Peters is. What a total embarrassment. This country is going backwards at a rate of knots because of idiots like him. There’s loads of places that have unisex toilets. They only take one person at a time.

Winston you are “listening to “ bugger all New Zealanders. As in not even double digits freaking out about less than 1% of the population

  4. If Albert Park told us anything, it was that girls and women need protection from transgender extremists. Nothing wrong with males and females having separate loos with another choice available for others. No need to twist the protection of one group into a persecution of others.

  5. No thanks, I think I’ll be sticking to the mens where we actually take care of our lived toilet environment.

  6. Knowing that some do gooder vigilante is lurking around a toilet block to guess your gentalia by your external looks , sure isn’t privacy. Damn Creepy !

  7. “As soon as this law passes, I am using Womens toilets and photographing me using them and then posting them online.”

Why don’t you ask some of the women you know how they feel about this?

  8. “It is essential for every person to break this law, and I certainly intend to.”

You don’t need to wait for a new law, you can alert the police that you are using women’s bathrooms tomorrow. If they prosecute it’s unlikely you would win.

Why would you be against protecting your daughters private space from every tom, dick and harry.

We have all seen the subterfuge of priests in dresses and scoutmasters in shorts preying on kids. We are now witnessing drag queens putting on sex shows for little kids in libraries.

Let NZ First protect children from paedophiles and keep the debate on helping the 99% survive the recession.

    • You have a point Joseph – about the drag queens in schools. It is outrageous, there has been a problem with religious instruction from unbalanced people and now this. So little has been done at school to talk about relationships instead just handing out sterile information about shapes of genitals etc. Talking about contraceptive use and wisdom of that was the idea of the ‘enlightened’ at the school my children attended.

But having policing of toilets – how does this seem good? What we can have is the system that prevailed in Europe, both France and Greece years ago. An attendant on hand who provides services and keeps the place clean and she and he in the appropriate place would keep order. And that is what is needed – order and good behaviour. And then it would not matter so much whether they were trans or not they would just go about their needs in their own private space and bother no-one. The attendant would be of mature, of good character and standard of course, even if they themselves were trans, and be able to call for assistance if necessary.

      • Grey Warbler. Iconic Kirkaldies department store in Wellington used to have such an attendant or concierge on hand in their comfortable rest rooms. I knew one older lady from out of town, single and alone, who relished what was often the only personal attention which she received from week to week. I think that the concierge provided hot towels, and that a tip dish was available for tips. Lambton Quay has gone downhill since Kirkaldies and it’s successor went, and will further worsen when the WCC’s misbegotten Golden Mile project cycles into action.
