Newshub staff called to ‘important business update’ meeting
Staff of the soon-to-close newsroom at Newshub have been called to a meeting on Tuesday, Newshub says.
In its reporting, Newshub said it was described as an “important business update”.
Newshub said staff members were sent an email on Monday evening about the meeting.
It would be held in the newsroom and the announcement made by Warner Brothers Discovery ANZ (WBD) head of networks Glen Kyne.
Newshub said reports had emerged that its owner may consider outsourcing production of its 6pm news bulletin for Three and ThreeNow.
Newshub said it had requested comment from WBD.
Rupert Murdoch’s TV execs were in Auckland secretly meeting with Melissa Lee last week and the rumour circulating is that Sky News wants to buy Newshub to implement a hard right Fox News style/Australian Sky TV styled 6pm news.
Imagine ZB crossed with Australian level racism that endlessly promotes Trans National Mining interests.
Allowing Rupert Murdoch into NZ to ‘save’ journalism is like getting a child molesting alcoholic priest to run the kindergarten and pub.

Many of my Internet acquaintances from the US say that not having Murdoch owned news in NZ is a distinct advantage. I tend to agree, although we do have fox news on pay-TV don’t we? It’s channel 88 which I always thought was quite appropriate.
The status quo has been a distinct advantage to the left I fully agree.
No question sky is tilted right but that’s what has been missing from tv in NZ.
We need to hear a balance of viewpoints when current televised media have not been allowing it.

I’m saying Sky is not balanced, I agree, but it’s a counter spin (to the right) to MSM in NZ spinning strongly left.
Eg: Viewers could get a balance of views by watching different NZ channels, or could have had we actually had a free to air right wing tv news station.
I will watch with interest what happens now that fellow left wing outfit Stuff tries to hold the viewers.
Ok, maybe Sky is not quite comparative to Fox. Right leaning should not mean bullshit. With vote rigging and the machines in the US the Fox guys didn’t even believe what they were saying. It was made up.
I also find hard to accept the media in NZ is left leaning. They could do a way better job of holding the current muppets to account, and I find it hard to believe labour would have lost by so much if the media was so in their camp. Is 1ZB considered to be media? Are you telling me they are left leaning? Newshub?
The NZ MSM has a distinct right bias and although a few people complain that the media is left that is only because they are so far right that they would drive on the right side footpath if given a chance then they would complain about the bumpy ride
Of course everyone has an opinion on that which you are allowed, but research suggest both a perception of left wing bias and a large majority of journalists identifying as left wing.

Your “perception” is marred by your own bias. When researched the NZ Herald and Newstalk ZB are right wing financed. Now what evidence did you have again?
Let’s not forget that Rupert Murdoch was a friend of the (possibly?) late Jeffrey Epstein, as they work for the same goal.

Stuff is owned here in NZ. I suggest you research who owns Suff not Sky news.

My prediction is Lee will sell TVNZ to fox news ,Willis will sell kiwi rail to main freight ,the ferries will be skuttled in cook straight leaving only Blue Bridge to carry goods across the straight .No doubt these two companies poured mega bucks into nats election to get these opportunities .
The new tunnel under wellington will run into geological problems because no testing will be carried out before fast tracking it to start next week .The cost will blow out to 10 billion which would have bought 9 new ferries and new ports .
I have inadvertently caught snippets of Sky News and was shocked that it appeared to be even more rabid and feral than Fox .Maybe I caught them on a bad day ?
