Again I ask, when will new powers against da gangs get misused against us?

Watch how quickly harsh law designed for da gangsโ€ฆ

New Zealand takes a page from Western Australiaโ€™s anti-bikie gang laws

Our new Police Minister has gotten an invitation from Western Australiaโ€™s top brass, as he prepares to bring in a raft of gang laws.

But, Mark Mitchell says heโ€™s far too busy to accept it. Heโ€™s got the task of making Nationalโ€™s promise of cracking down on gangs a reality within the coalition Governmentโ€™s first 100 days.

Our proposed legislation will be peppered with references to WAโ€™s tough anti-bikie laws โ€“ which top officials say has changed the state overnight.

It includes the introduction of dispersal notices, anti-consorting laws, and the banning of gang insignia in public.

โ€ฆmutates into law against protestorsโ€ฆ

National Mฤori Action Day: Rush-hour โ€˜gridlockโ€™ expected on Auckland motorways as Te Pฤti Mฤori calls for protests

Mass protests planned for tomorrow are expected to result in gridlock on the main highways heading into Aucklandโ€™s city centre, likely causing millions of dollars in lost productivity, Te Pฤti Mฤori party says.

Disruption is expected across North Island roads tomorrow morning as Te Pฤti Mฤori calls for nationwide action in response to the Governmentโ€™s โ€œassault on tangata whenua and Te Tiriti o Waitangiโ€.

Te Pฤti Mฤori party secretary Lance Norman said they were expecting hundreds โ€“ potentially thousands โ€“ of vehicles to join convoys heading slowly into Aucklandโ€™s city centre along the state highways from the North Shore, the northwestern and southern motorways.

He said the protests would likely cause โ€œmillions of dollars in lost productivityโ€.

โ€ฆthe Settler Police State is coming.

In Judith Collins as the new Minister for the GCSB, SIS, Defence and Attorney-General we have an enormous amount off power for someone who has a long track record of basing power.

She is the most irresponsible appointment by Luxon which only highlights Luxonโ€™s weakness as leader (something weโ€™ve seen all week long as Seymour and Winston overshadowed him) .

No one as ruthless, dangerous and manipulative as Judith Collins should ever be allowed anywhere near the Intelligence Apparatus!

Itโ€™s like giving an arsonist a flame thrower and a subscription to Burn Porn! (do not google that!)

She is the most unsuited human being for that level of power and if ANYTHING keeps you up at night, it should be Judith Collins as the Minister for Spooks!

Remember when she blew Ian Lees-Gallowayโ€™s brains all over the TV3 studio by just outing his affair live on TV?

Remember when she outed a Journalist who asked her for a reference?

Remember when she destroyed Simon Bridges reputation with a shit encrusted me too harpoon?

Yeah, her โ€“ sheโ€™s now in charge of the spies, the Army and the legal arbiter of martial law and suspension of civil rights.

Add to her, former private mercenary Mark Mitchell as the Minister of Police and you have all the ingredients for a Settler Police State.

Watch for how quickly draconian legislation aimed at da gangs immediately gets used against environmental protestors, Mฤori Rights Protesters and anyone protesting this Government in a way that angers ZB listeners.

So I ask again, when will new powers against da gangs get misused against us because the evidence shows that these new draconian laws being targeted at ‘da gangs’ will be used against us immediately…

Anti-gang laws: Why Government thinks they wonโ€™t be misused, as they have before here and overseas – Derek Cheng

Last yearโ€™s independent report Making Gang Laws in a Panic– by University of Canterbury sociologist Jarrod Gilbert, who once spent five years with gangs – found that previous anti-gang laws had minimal impact.

It found:

    • Only two people had been charged under two new offences – habitually associating with a violent offender, and habitually associating with a drug offender – and one of them wasnโ€™t a gang member.
    • Allowing the removal of gang fortifications had been โ€œscarcely employedโ€ and, when used, โ€œseldomโ€ successful.
    • A new criminal harassment offence resulted in an average of 71 people being charged annually, but only 9.5 per cent of them were linked to gangs.
    • The only change that could be interpreted as a success was the charge of participation in an organised criminal group; 60 per cent of those charged were linked to gangs.

โ€œThe legislation that was specifically created to target gangs has more often been employed as general law and order tools,โ€ Gilbert said in his report, and while some of those may be useful, โ€œit is clear that they have not had any meaningful impact on the gang sceneโ€œ.

His report, commissioned by the New Zealand Law Foundation, noted Australian research that gang crime only makes up a โ€œvery small percentage of criminal offendingโ€, and that anti-gang laws in Australia have mirrored those in New Zealand in their greater use against those who are not gang members.

…oh look at that, A new criminal harassment offence resulted in an average of 71 people being charged annually, but only 9.5 per cent of them were linked to gangs.

We already have the proof that these new harsh restrictions on liberty won’t just be used against ‘da gangs’ you sleepy stupid hobbits, it will be used against you as well!

I am expecting Mark to make a symbolic hanging of the current Police Commissioner to stamp his authority and implant some gung-ho dickhead to undermine all the good work Police have done and to attempt some stupid symbolic crackdown that will generate counter productive results.

Now who is in a position to manipulate that predictable counter productive result for the worst of our angels?

This country is just so easily led by right wing ZB Troll Farm talking points.

  1. It’s not as if Collins is a particularly intelligent person or an especially good Minister of anything. How many cars did she crush for instance? Her business relationships are a bit iffy as well.

    • She crushed exactly zero number of cars, but was quite happy to ride with the “Crusher Collins” name tag.

She forgot to look at the laws surrounding her promise….

From memory, Anne Tolley crushed a symbolic … one… Probably her own when the engine blew up!

  2. It’s all bluff and bravado in the end. I think the politicians are too scared to touch the gangs really. Especially Mr Luxon.

  3. I will give it another go. Weetbix, eh our P.m. That fundamentalist religion, we allow tax avoidence, is his now and again church that is not allowed to talk about. Thatcher, is now our new ground to care, and say.

  6. The police are too busy trying to fill the coffers it would seem. They are all over the motorways in non hazardous areas, pointing speed guns at cars. Not a patch or a ram raid in sight, oddly enough.
