The smug arrogant hubris exhibited by the Right at Wayne Brown’s Mayoralty Roast is widespread throughout National and ACT strategists who also seem to believe that because everyone they know hates Labour and the Greens as much as they do, then a victory in October is inevitable.
Right wing pundits don’t understand why Labour are still so high in the Polls because while the Right are highly polarised, they are not the majority.
The middle are terrified of what a National/ACT Government would actually do.
The reality is that the more redneck and reactionary the Right get, the more they lose the middle.
This middle vote doesn’t care Kiri shouted at bureaucrats and they don’t care Wood didn’t sell his shares, they are voting Labour to stop ACT and National.
Because Luxon is so weak, educated folk see Seymour will get everything he wants and the country will be twisted into the sharpest right wing turn this country has suffered since Rogernomics and Ruthanasia.
People might be pissed off at Labour post Covid, but allowing Darth Vader and his Paramilitary Stormtroopers in to run the day care centre isn’t really the solution eh?
The Right are blind to how extreme their policy direction is and that’s why they don’t understand why Labour’s vote is holding up.
That’s why a Labour led minority Government with a supply and confidence arrangement with the Maori Party is going to spin them the fuck out.
The danger of politics as polarised as it currently is, is that if the Herald Poll of Polls plays out and we get the predicted result, the Right are going to whig out and go somewhere very dark.
Even if we on the Left win, the poison that this election will generate risks contaminating any victory.
It is essential the Left are not triumphant and are humble in victory and that the bottom lines won in concession for supply and confidence are implemented in the first 100 days so that EVERYONE, even those who voted against us, benefit immediately from a Left wing win.
Politics has become a malicious spite pit and the role of social media hate algorithms have allowed us to be offended by each other to the point of atomisation. If the Left wins in less than 100 days, we must move to heal by working collectively on the enormous challenges ahead of us or risk something darker mutating.
Increasingly having independent opinion in a mainstream media environment which mostly echo one another has become more important than ever, so if you value having an independent voice – please donate here.

Trouble is Matryn, like those that don’t care that Kiri Allen shouted at someone ( and let’s be honest no one in National really cares about that) there are just as many that want to vote Labour out despite it being an absolute wanker fest in NAT Act (with a few exceptions).
The Tories and A.C.T. aren’t different enough from the others to really rally the base. A.C.T. is merely getting the protest vote, despite having an uninspiring leader.
The pro-war, high-immigration, pro-offshoring policies of A.C.T. should be a total vote loser. But there still isn’t a local right-wing populist willing to upset the donors and actually follow public opinion on those issues, despite this being the era of Trump and Marine Le Pen.
The pro war people are those that back a country fighting for it freedom from control by a dictator.
The pro immegration people saw the hole Labour dug for us by trying to halt immegration and the lack of workers that caused business to suffer.
The pro offshore policy reconizes the fact we need an inject of funds and ideas to grow our tax take.
Seymore is a good leader of a small party that has a message to get out and knows how to get attention u like Green leaders that insult people then attack surprised they are not popular .
I will vote National as ACT are a bit too radical but if National lose their way it would not be too hard to give ACT 2 ticks
I’m very surprised to hear that ACT is “pro-war”. Can you please provide a citation for that?
@Nitrium — The A.C.T. Party was attacking its own members — including veterans — who dared to oppose Richard Prebble’s hawkish line in support of invading Iraq (and then the members weren’t given a vote). [Phil Goff criticised this in Parliament.]
The A.C.T. Party were also the most hawkish party regarding the disastrous invasion of Afghanistan (in ’01, Prebble was bragging that his party was the first to support it), and they were busy attacking the Alliance Party for being non-interventionist. [See: Party press release, 2001.]
Seymour was then trying to be more hawkish than anyone else in early 2022, when he claimed there wasn’t enough military aid being sent to Ukraine. After populist Republicans later tried to stop so much money being sent there (and Trump pledging to end the war within 24 hours), I couldn’t find any such similar statements from Seymour. [See: N.Z. Herald reporting, March 2022.]
Australia.
That’s where disaffected people who want a future in a democratic country will go.
Already we have a net outflow of kiwi citizens to Aus and net inflow of non citizens “replacing” them, but a skill deficit resulting.
And to the morons who say “good riddance” these are your nurses and doctors and tradies and engineers and teachers who don’t drink the curriculum koolaid that can’t be replaced.
I’ve never seen a government so anti it’s own citizens, another term doesn’t bear thinking about.
And to the morons like yourself whom thinks the secret to life is money. those nurses and doctors can be replaced. No one is indispensable, if what you say is correct the same nurses and doctors would not have left under Nact…they did.
When have I ever said the secret to life is money? You are starting to sound like millsy.
Back on your meds Bert, the statistics speak for themselves.
Not sure who Bert is but the statistics of your post suggest Nurses and Doctors are leaving for better pay. Am I wrong?
And the statistics do prove they are leaving for better income.
As an aside you actually sound like Bob the first, constantly slating the government with childish one liners.
Telling people to ” get back on their meds” and not knowing their personal medical history is appalling behavior but you labeling people morons because they have a different opinion to you ,more sums you up as a person and tells me all I need to know about you. Your last sentence is clearly ridiculous.
I regret I cannot help you with the pain the truth entails.
Sorry if you aren’t Bert (and I don’t believe you btw), but obviously aping other peoples names as you do is going to lead to misunderstanding. Deliberate troll tactic that it is of course.
Back under your bridge little fella.
Uinspiring leader Kristoff R…u surely Myst be talking about Hipkins. He is the most uninspiring yet.
Every time Hipkins tries to make excuse s for his incompetent minister s he makes Seymour look like a stand out leader.
If the right lose this election it while mean more quality people will leave for Australia hospital waiting list will get longer we will sink further behind others in education at all levels, houses will not be built , crime will get worse and poverty will overtake more people as the cost of living grows. Baring in mind Labour would have Greens and TPM with them so race will further divide our population at great cost both physically and mentally.
I shudder at the thought of another 3 years of what we have now as it can only get worse.
As this so called fundraiser has proven, the right and in particular Brown are truly awful.
