Lisette Reymer is Newshub’s Europe correspondent based in London and I have found her journalism from the Ukraine and her coverage of the Earthquake in Turkey just incredible.
What is most amazing about Lisette’s journalism is the incredibly descriptive and powerfully emotive language she uses to craft each of her stories.
She is such a remarkable wordsmith and enables the viewer to journey through her story as a witness with a genuine articulation of the experience.
Her work is unique because so many other journalists are far too nervous to even attempt her range of vocabulary.
She is a truly unique journalist who manages to give real gravitas to the issues she is reporting on.
I think in part it’s because she’s producing off shore and the usual dumbing down by news producers here doesn’t seem to impact in her work. I think her brilliance is being allowed through, not because TV3 is great, but because it’s probably cheaper to just let her produce it herself.
Catch her work now before TV3 realise she’s found a loophole to their mediocrity and kills her story telling skills off.
TDB usually has nothing but seething contempt for most NZ mainstream media, Lisette Reymer is a rare talent worth celebrating.
Increasingly having independent opinion in a mainstream media environment which mostly echo one another has become more important than ever, so if you value having an independent voice – please donate here.

I’d be a tad more convinced of her journalistic integrity if she did some reporting from Donetsk city, where Ukrainians continue to target civilians
As it is I find her faux empathy hard to stomach
There’s similar unsolicited praise for Lisette over on Kiwiblog during the last week
It’s not easy being green said Kermit. Journalists aspiring to enter the cauldron of ideas and prejudices, facts and fantasies, should take note of the Bruce Jesson Journalism Awards.
