Luxon’s photo op at McDonalds is such outrageous hypocrisy.
He’ll serve you a Big Mac and ice cream, but he won’t allow fast food workers to join a union!
A rich Christian who believes his ownership of 7 properties is proof positive that Jesus loves him slumming it at Macca’s while his Party votes against Fair Pay Agreements is like Trump hosting diversity training and lecturing everyone on bigotry.
Luxon is happy pretend to be a precarious worker while doing nothing to stop that precarious working environment in the first place!
National have no solutions to the huge problems facing us, all they have is a list of Labour Party legislation they intend to burn and slash the moment they take power.
That’s not Government, that’s political vandalism!
All people are doing by voting National is promoting a book burning and pretending that’s a solution.
Increasingly having independent opinion in a mainstream media environment which mostly echo one another has become more important than ever, so if you value having an independent voice – please donate here.

Isn’t it just ridiculous timing to have such a photo. They are just stupid.
Nicola Willis again looked stymied when questioned about the cost of living and peoples ability to earn following the passing of the fair pay legislation. She said something like higher wages would come with a stronger economy. It’s a second nothing comment where she has genuinely looked like she didn’t believe her own answer.
Willis is as hollow as the cone.
Love the moniker, Mike!
NZ’s obsession with fattening consumer goods. Politicians and unions in NZ seem preoccupied with helping promote fast food. Luxton McD’s, Marama Chocolate, Mike Treen fast food/unions. Wonder why our obesity is so high and killing people but who cares?
He has to do what his handlers tell him to, to try and look relatable. None of them know that even eating MacDonald ‘s is a major treat for many. Assembling el cheapo barbecue using power tools while wearing jandals was dumber, especially without sun protection up top. Key once tried to hit a nail with a hammer and missed, and I think Brash fell into the sea walking the gangplank. Expect to see him on his knees before Christmas.
‘even eating MacDonald ‘s is a major treat for many. ‘ Did you mean ‘treat’ or ‘threat’?-
From memory but one McDonalds(and I am going from the time I worked at McDonalds in New Lynn)shift is 4 hours.
Therefore on the current minimum wage an ordinary McDonalds worker would be on $21.20 an hour. A 4 hour shift before tax would mean an ordinary McDonalds’ worker would have $84.80nett.
After tax and there is hardly much left for a worker to survive on.
Now how much is Luxon paid PER HOUR thanks to the generosity of the NZ taxpayers???!!! And after tax would Luxon’s take home pay be considerably more than a McDonald’s worker receives before tax working a 4 hour shift???!!!!
My only hope is Luxon did not serve food with his bare hands as he probably would have done when working at McDonalds as a child. It is hardly dignifying for him let alone McDonalds to be serving food with bare hands especially in these now COVID times.
In the late 70s I worked at McDonalds. And in contradiction to Luxon’s claim that it was a dignifying workplace it sure as HELL was NOT. How you looked and to have a blemish free appearance mattered at McDonalds. To have pimples or acne despite being a lovely natured person did not matter to the McDonalds management.
Neither did total food hygiene matter to the McDonald Management in the 90s. One Saturday morning whilst I was working unpaid at WINZ in Royal Oak I went to the McDonalds in Royal Oak for some Hot Cakes. I took the Hot Cakes back to work to enjoy.
Halfway through the meal I happened to look at what I was eating. There was the remains of a fly in the hot cake. I ended up vomiting before I got to the Ladies toilet,
I complained to McDonald’s Head Office in Auckland who responded with that they cannot guarantee total food hygiene.
And that is the same company Luxon calls Dignifying???!!!
But I guess Luxon will be calling the low income McDonald workers as Bottom Feeders especially those on the minimum wage. A wage he wants to keep NZ workers at if he by some misfortune became prime minister of New Zilland(as John Key called this country).
It’s an outrage! Oh my socialist pearls…
Wouldrather get fish n chips from Jacinda, then a 1 day old big Mac from Luxton.
At Least u can be confident Jacinda know s what she is doing frying chips and battering the fish.
