If we’ve finished destroying Sam Uffindell, can we do ASB next?

NZ Twitter ready to cast the first stone

Folks, I appreciate we are terribly busy destroying Sam Uffindell for shit he did when he was 16 and banging on a door 19 years ago, but I wonder in our death roll of glee if we could possibly divert some of that energy towards something that, you know, matters.

Like the fucking banks and their fucking obscene profits…

Another record: ASB profit up 11 per cent to $1.47 billion

Lending growth pushed profits at ASB up 11 per cent to $1.47 billion for the year to June 30, despite a slowdown in the property market.

The bank’s home lending grew 6 per cent during the year down from 12 per cent in the prior financial year.

Its cash profit rose 9 per cent to $1.42b while its net interest margin remained flat at 2.22 per cent.

Total advances to customers rose 5 per cent to $105b while its deposits were up 8 per cent to $85b.

…again, appreciate we all want to virtue signal over Sam Uffindel and his heteronormative white cis male toxic masculinity privilege, and goodness that’s important, but you know, capitalism and under regulated banking is probably robbing us of huge revenue sources we could rebuild that society so many of you woke activists bleat about, so how about we show ASB and their Australian Banking Oligarchy the same anger we are showing Sammy?

If only we on the Left were as good at strangling off child poverty, the cost of living crisis and housing unaffordability the way we can National MP careers for things they did 2 decades ago.

ASB and their Aussie banking mates should be hit with windfall profit taxes, just as the UK has done with gas and oil companies.

It is obscene that the Aussie Banks are robbing us blind during a Cost of Living Crisis…

Banks post record profits and close in on $5 billion in interest income as mortgage costs spiral

The total interest hoovered up by the banks from households and businesses is on track to top $5 billion a quarter as home loan interest rates rise, KPMG says.

Rising mortgage rates are contributing to a national cost of living crisis and data from the Reserve Bank Te Pūtea Matua showed at the end of April that just under $110b of home loans would come to the end of their fixed term before April next year.

Borrowers refixing in the next three or six months were likely to get rates starting at 5% or 6%, said John Kensington, head of banking and finance at KPMG.

…if only the woke could be as outraged by this as they are by something a National Party MP did 20 years ago.

If. Fucking. Only.

  1. State media has low viewership/trust ratings.

Luxon and Uffindell are fools to indulge state media’s magnifying of a molehill into a mountain.

I’m disgusted with Luxon – you come out strong over these kinds of attacks, you weather the BS storm!

Both Luxon and Uffindell have bent the knee to woke and therefore are under the authority of the woke.

An echo-chamber now decides Uffindell’s fait and National are likely dead-in-the-water going forward.

It’s possible [hyperbole] nobody worth voting for will ever choose to stand for National again under Luxon.

Voting for Act.. “this is the way”..

    • There are still lots of people who don’t give a crap what the media says and who will vote National anyway. But yes ACT is the way to go if you want any actual change

      • Depends a what sort of changes and whom is going to pay the price? IMHO Maori will be the losers ‘BIG-TIME’ with the dissolution of Treaty clauses in determining case law, and historic wrongs minimalized couched in word salad BS. The “One Law for all” rhetoric will be one of the virtue signaling to the dominant pakeha constituency. The tough on crime rhetoric will see more Maori incarcerated and the gangs and other dark forces will be rubbing their hands together in delight at the fresh meat of recruitment in their ranks.

We might even witness ‘Maori Nationalism’ becoming more insistent on their ways of doing things opposed to the mainstream. Which ever way, Act will move the govt further right and that can’t be good for most NZers.

  2. Uffindell did not do something really bad like keep pulling a young woman’s hair after she repeatedly asked him to stop. He is only a thug, a bully an a King’s College old boy with a surname that sounds like it is out of Gimm’s fairytales.
Just what you expect from a National Party member. He was selected on his credentials.

  3. Banks are the reason our economy is shaped the way it is, why our appalling housing system is what it is, why people struggle, why they’re homeless, why cost of living crises happen, why climate change exists, why wars happen.

We are all here all day, everyday to enrich bank shareholders. Their insatiable appetite for profit means they must have more and more of the pie. Nothing else matters!

  4. ” banging on a door 19 years ago ”

Bomber I believe it was a lot more serious than that and the victim’s father is corroborating her statement regarding this alleged behaviour by Uffindel.

Adern and Robertson had their expensive TWG and they ignored most of its recommendations as they always intended to do because it was a deflection from all the media questioning about any possible future tax increases prior to the 2017 general election and to shut down the debate.

Once again they failed and have continued to ignore the obscenity of the corporates who continue to evade paying their fair share of tax.

Robertson and the rest of the LINO caucus have no stomach for putting a stake in the ground and standing up to the banksters now or ever and they know they are untouchable in our little neo liberal paradise.

The Australian shareholders are the real winners and like the grocery cartels and power companies to name a few will continue to extort obscene amounts of money out of the pockets of many kiwi’s because deep down the NZLP ” when its in government supports profits over people “

  5. If you put in the effort to post credible and reasoned comments regularly, I’ve found The Daily Blog to be more lenient in publishing more controversial takes.

Comment moderation certainly sets a standard, which is reasonable if not helpful.

  6. Cunts like uffindale deserve everything that comes back on them. 6th form 2nd 15 thugs like him who went around bullying the nerds and the “faggots” don’t get one second of sympathy from me and I don’t care how long it takes till they get called out and feel some of the pain and shame they inflicted on others.

    • I agree Peter. Bullying is depraved and deeply damaging behaviour. Whether they grow up to be violent psychopaths, narcisstic CEOs or “reformed” politicians, the bullying behaviour should follow them, be exposed, discussed, disciplined and called out for what it is – unacceptable depraved abuse. Perpetrators should always be reminded of the times they stooped so low, as a reminder to all that abusive behaviour is no longer tolerated anywhere in our society.

  7. First of all Martyn you’ll have to run it by the stuff blogsite stazi to see if this $1.47b profit is abusive or offensive on the Stuffs Stazi Offensive Woke Richter scale.

    It’ll have go through their checklist of criterion;

Does it have anything to do with men, males with dicks?
Does it involve sex, sexual abuse, unwanted sexual advances retrospectively or otherwise.

Were there any animals involved or harmed, also trees or plants?

Were there any popular people or groups involved or party to the ackshull ‘act’.

    Did it ‘really’ happen?

Which lifetime did it happen in?

However, if the Stazi choose to ignore these criterion, they can and they can veto them and make other shit up because they can and thats how you chew up a couple of hundred million dollars of taxpayers cash!

  8. Does the hit job work if all you do is push people towards more right wing parties in Act and NZ First? Does Clint Smith understand that his woke empire is under more threat with every vote he funnels towards Seymour and Peters?

I guess not – New Zimbabwean politics is dumber than a sack of hammers.

Showing Te Reo and Beltway Willis up as middle management woketards helps those on the true right. Seymour to cut the bejeesus out of the obese public service and Winston to be the adult in the room.

    Thank you Clint.

    • Like the pun Frankie “Hit job” not sure the victim does.
XdumbXdumberX a glove puppet for the National party wants to knight Uffindell.

  9. The banks – the NZ Government need to take a substantial stake in the Aussie banks through NZ Super Fund or ACC, then a fair proportion of their profits will stay here.

Or ensure KiwiBank obtains a triple A credit rating, which it could if only the government would use them as their bankers…..

  10. Just listened to Sean Plunkets interview with Bryce Edwards on The Platform today (sorry can’t link)
Interesting fact – Plunket says the journalist who dropped the Uffindell story has known since the Tauranga by election but chose to release it after the National conference/bad political poll for Labour.
If that’s not media licking the governments hand then what is?

    • His political leaning and impartiality was and is there for all to witness. The word Bias should have been inserted, mistakenly added impartiality

    • Interesting fact also… Plunkett has history…

“Plunket’s own talkback radio slot had already been the subject of a Broadcasting Standards Authority uphold for its content over accusations that a Maori iwi “did not care about child abuse” while discussing an iwi roadblock intended to protect its elderly members from the COVID-19 pandemic.”

Plunkett is another Hosking, shoots from the mouth, without the consequences.

    • Really? Sounds like bollocks. How was the Nat party conference a triumph/ good thing? The Uffindell story is taking the focus of what a ridiculous move it was to hone in on beneficiaries when we have f’k all unemployment. That and the fact that “Goodfellow” just won’t disappear. He steps down but goes nowhere

  11. Probably the profits from closing down all the local bank branches. Only 1 bank left in lots of towns.

  12. In Bomber’s view those criticising tory twats like Mr Uffindel should also be anti capitalist or at least seriously critical of corporate profiteering, and prioritise that. I agree if we lived in a perfect world, but it does not let the guy off the hook and the sooner he sods off from the NZ Parliament the better.

40 years of neo liberalism and post modernism have added to New Zealand’s already atrocious political culture–the dark settler provincial remnants, the self employed, the grasping bourgeoisie, a working class divided along all sorts of lines. We need to recognise the class make up and reality of AO NZ in 2022–and more importantly do something about improving it.

Fighting class left leadership needs to be restored. Workers will act with good leadership as particularly Unite, First and sometimes Etū have shown. Maritime and Transport Unions plugged away for 30 years to restore NZ owned and operated coastal shipping–which is now going to happen. Teachers Unions stopped Charter Schools and National Standards.

The organised working class is the answer to identity politics. Mick Lynch is helping lead an “Enough is enough” campaign in the UK.

  13. Now you’re talking @ MB.
I’d go so far as to write that the four foreign owned banks, and their lobbying-pro’s scuttling about within OUR parliament, are now straying well beyond the lobby and have done so for almost 40 neoliberal years. ( My brain says much longer…)
Can I just point out that we’re an exports oriented economy. Yes, we have tourists. Well, perhaps one, maybe even two, but primarily we export grown, harvested and generally farmed goods and foods. We don’t export views or jet boat rides. We don’t export nasty pap sold in garish shops to eat or to use to build things with or to wear.
That kind of thing doesn’t bring in the literal bacon we can sell for proper money from which the four foreign owned banksters take billions of dollars out of OUR economy to bolster their NET profits annually. Is this where I mention homeless AO/NZ people and those living in dire poverty in cars or garages with their kids? They’re the ones luxon wants to get tough on while the four foreign owned banks take billions of dollars out of OUR country in net profits. No wonder then, why it is that luxon’s right up uffindell’s back passage crossing that crossing.
uffindell looks like a boring little rich man with far too much time on his soft pink hands. He’ll simply ponder just how wonderful he’s sure he is. It’s the banks, the banks, the banks who are the real enemy in our midst. That’s why you see their fucking ugly buildings in the middle of every town and city in the country.

    • You had me worried CB. I was scrolling down and thought you must have had a heart attack. But it’s ok you’re here. Yes way tooo much profit for banks.

    • “primarily we export grown, harvested and generally farmed goods and foods”. And bank profits!

Bring on a bank profit export levy or charge or tariff or impost or toll or rate or tithe or duty or tribute or a “bank(ers) fee” just don’t call it a tax – Labour don’t like new taxes.

      Please Jacinda be a BOSS.

  14. Oh the irony!Uffindell came from Rabo Bank ,a bank with a rap sheet of chicanery and misfeasance. That’s the culture….’doing God’s work’-Blankfein- Goldman/Sachs.

  15. Those that gave the banks to off-shore capital all got knighted and will undoutably be members of the secret Koru Club.

  16. Kiwibank is an easy fix for retail customers ATM transaction fees are gone. Depends on your lending, I guess.
Bitcoin Ethereum. an NZDC? turbines in the harbour? nz needs to look at it’s long term strategy towards trade and energy. what we pay for imported goods and services is subsidized by cheap energy, for now.

Stats NZ data showed a deficit of $10.5 billion between export earnings and import costs for the year ended June, the highest annual deficit since current records began in 1960.

  17. Uffindell, after their leader being ‘in Te Puke’, reveals the privileged in the National Party. We don’t like being ruled in our faces by such folk. Let alone the born again pricks the previous president brought in.

Their candidate selection for a long time now has been crass, awful and representative of the rich’s capture of NZ. Yet NZers, unlike them, have enough memory to resist their crassest impositions. That’s your chute, Martyn.

  18. You got ‘Uffindell’ wrong, Martyn. It expands on how the National Party is now run by the privileged who have nothing to do with us. It is worth exploring to the full. A crime at sixteen is worthy of our full forgiveness but if in the political sphere it illustrates more it has to be followed up.

    • I don’t think you get what Bomber is trying to say. Voters are willing to put there personal security before economic security for good reason. Living standards are falling. Housing more cramped ect.
