Scotty Morrison lost because he was such an arsehole EVEN AUSTRALIANS couldn’t stand him – when a former prison colony gets sick of your authoritarianism while being burnt off the face of a climate crisis planet, you tie your kangaroo down sport.
The convoluted and insane voting system of Australia allows for back door dealings with vast vested interests and when those interests are so entrenched within mining they are always self-interested, that’s why real climate change has been impossible within the Australian system.
This has allowed conservative rural Australian cultural values to endlessly hold the balance of power alongside big mining interests.
For NZ, we need to see if our citizens will continue to be treated like shit in Australia and the ongoing 501 tsunami of criminals who are fuelling the gang war here.
Geo-politically Australia will continue to be America’s Sherif in the Pacific.
The challenge for Labor will be the adoption of an economy less reliant on mining for climate change purposes right at a point when the global economy melts down.
Because of Australia’s vast mineral wealth, the ‘lucky country’ has never experienced a true recession, so how will Australia fair fare when their luck runs out?
There won’t be any prawns left to throw on the barbie once the global depression hits.
How feral can a fallen Australia implode into?

Increasingly having independent opinion in a mainstream media environment which mostly echo one another has become more important than ever, so if you value having an independent voice – please donate here.

How long till ‘Albo’ meets the same fate as Rudd and Gillard did?
China has said it will be happier with Albanese than it ghas been with Morrison. That says a lot
Albo is dumber than a sack of hammers. Tayna “to difficult to spell surname” will roll him in 24 months. Probably lefter than Albo but efficient and intelligent – just like Gillard. The right will go with Dutton. Similar to the mad monk but a little more pragmatic.
History fucking repeats.
The best part about this result is that two arseholes are gone, Morrison and especially Peter Dutton..
If the 501’s can be stopped that’s a bonus.
Thank’s Bob/John in advance.
Yep, just shows how pissed off people had become when they gave that racist pig Dutton his marching orders.
Maybe Pauline Hanson could give him a job in a fish and chip shop
Couldn’t agree more on Dutton. That guy was horrible and his rather laughable sabre rattling at China was especially delusional if not insane.
Has he lost his seat as well?
no. His throne of blood is still intact.
Dutton was always a bum probably. Could be better off without a seat and so would all of them!
Dutton won though…..
Australia now must ban all kiwis from escaping NZ to a better place. Stop the visa free relocation. Force the people wanting to flee NZ to stay which will make them vent their anger at the right person. She needs to know. The pressure cooker will blow a top. It has to happen.
They chose the other boring old white man. Is this god’s will Scott?
The two of them pictured side by side do look like Twiddledum and Twiddledee.
That doesn’t look much like a great white shark.
Black tipped reef shark maybe eh.
Correct….,
… or half of a great white shark.
China has said it will be happier with Albanese than it ghas been with Morrison. That says a lot
People underestimate just how feral even city Australians are.
I can’t help but wonder whether the Chinese, Indian’s, et al will stop buying all that Aussie coal because Climate Emergency…!
I think the Aussie economy will continue to thrive built on all mineral wealth as the rest of the world just rolls on.
What I suspect will happen is the wealth gap between NZ and AU will continue widen, we will see more of our best and brightest leave as the NZ economy stagnates as all those self congratulatory virtuous policy’s that won’t change a thing at the planetary level bite, making NZ a rather dreary, poorer and less intelligent.
Buy hey, climate!
And houses and old people and wide-screen zombies. And one Yeti – capture and display, anything for money here in good ol’ NZ.
Go Greywarbler
In response to an earlier question you asked of me Greywarbler…

I’m all for people leaving NZ… except make sure it’s permanently. The rule I want to see put in place is that if you choose to leave you also relinquish give your citizenship and thus never allowed back into this country (other than as a tourist). You made your own bed, and now go lie in it. Goodbye and good luck, but you ain’t coming back!
As Muldoon said…
“New Zealanders who leave for Australia raise the IQ of both Countries”
And I don’t think the Aussies suffering record rainfall/flooding would agree with your analysis Yeti but you’re entitled to believe what you like.
I will be very surprised if Labour change tack on the 501s as the concept is very popular in Australia . Many here do not understand it is not just NZ criminals that are sent home it applies to all nationalities.
Labour in charge will have a poor effect on NZ as wages in the public sector will climb and we will lose many more teachers and medical staff due to our poor wages .
You may be right Trevor however… from the Herald.
“The implications of Albanese’s victory for New Zealand remain to be seen, but throughout the campaign he has taken a softer stance on key issues including immigration and opposed the Morrison government’s bid to increase 501 deportations – a sore point between the countries.”
I know he was against an increase and not cancelling it which is a huge shame.
One thing is for certain, A National win in Aussie and NZ means business as usual and not in a good way.
The challenge for Labor will be the adoption of an economy less reliant on mining for climate change purposes right at a point when the global economy melts down.
I imagine they will get in behind the Mulloon initiative which has been heralding a different way of handling water on farmland for decades, and for a long time was not considered by politicians who probably were more interested in mining. I’m reading an old Pilger on Australia and see Bondy in WA was one of the Silver guy’s friends along with transport king Peter Abeles, previously big in Ansett which we bought and which then crashed New Zealand for a while! So that type would be among the vested interests that Martyn talks about.
For the interested – just some headings summarising main points. Their work will be invaluable to Australia and somebody with brains and verve and independent thinking plus practicality here might want to join, with NZ being a junior partner. Damien O’Connor?

I don’t know what people have against the mining industry per se. If we are to achieve a clean, green self sustaining future there’s still going to be plenty of mining going on.
Sorry. Someone had to break it to you.
Whilst I agree to a certain point neither you nor I or the idiots that agree with you will be alive when the impact of that decision has concluded.
Worse than a Labor government, Aussies will be saddled with a Labor government propped up by crazed ‘teal green’ independents who are sponsored by ultra wealthy donors. Overwhelmingly these candidates are supported by menopausal middle class women whose environment doesn’t extend much beyond their own back yard.
Labour or Labour and Greens will have a majority in the lower house. Labour and Greens or Labour, Greens and the ACT Senator Pocock in the upper house.
The Teals are placed from 2025 to tame the carbon mining loving/conservative men of the Liberal Party or keep Labour in office for a second term.
