Does believing that everyone in NZ should have th eoption of a permanent home of some sort, that is safe from predators of all kinds, and extremes of weather, enough food that they can go about their legal business, and clothing so they don’t have to shiver in the wet, make a person a suspicious lefty? And if a person believes that if the government can create an environment where business and profit thrives, it can also create a base level of conditions that no one falls below, does that make them a commie bastard? And if a person wishes their partner to have a nice night out with their friends, while they stay at home, or if they support their career opportunites above their own, does it make them a feminist simp? And if a person isn’t interested in the color of another person’s skin, or their dress sense, or their orientation, or what they call their interest group, because they know finding good people to spend time with is too rare a thing to pass up in this life, does that make them an extreme rabble rousing activist? And if a person just wants to live quietly, peacefully, with just enough to experience being human, without being trapped by the neurosis of over consumption, and without taking more and more and more and more, and your share too, and everyone’s share too, and stacking it up in a special storage hut, does that make a perosn an unambitious layabout who should be forced into poverty? Holy moley. What the hell is going on. Are we humans or demons?

And if a person is quite happy without all the treats and trinkets, instead being content with a simple life, then they must be jealous or “haters” of those who stack their lives up with cheap shit and expensive brands to flaunt. It augments the ego and shows how considerably considerably better they are.
I’d be happy to leave them to it, wait and watch as wills are contested; disputes over turf and property are played out and won or lost, if only they’d do me the same favour. It’s just not part of the neo-liberal faith tho’ @Paul. Most of them have plans to take it to the other side for a start, and in order to be gorgeous, they need something to compare themselves with – what better examples than the considerably considerably less well off.
Hopefully the MP aren’t reading too much into Jeremy’s resignation.
