Judith Collins wonders why her moniker is Crusher!

This is fodder for the masses.  This is populist politics.

At a time, the country needs economic solutions; visionary policies to drag the country back from the abyss of economic catastrophe caused by COVID-19, we have Crusher coming up with “Get tough on Crime”.

I’ve dealt with gangs.  Serious front line disagreements and confrontations.

Not long ago I spoke to a gathering of 250 gang members.  My opening remarks to them were:

“Some of you are shit heads”.

Make no mistake, I understand how bad gangs can be.

But as I also said during my 25-minute address to the Head Hunters:

“Not all of you are shitheads and many moved into gangs through not having a choice.”

Which brings me back to what I think Hon Judith Collins should be focusing on.

Afterall, I too was a National MP and unlike some in the Party who think that it is their private army, I recognise that without a support base to give them the votes, MPs are irrelevant in parliament in Opposition.

If Collins seriously wants to ameliorate the damage gangs do, in my view, she should put much more emphasis on economic recover to save jobs and create new jobs.

If there are no jobs, more and more under privileged boys will end up in gangs.

Shooting gang members is not a solution.

  1. Judith was a hopeless police minister with rising rates of violent crime, ,,, police officers falsifying crime stats ,,, and her boy racer ‘crusher laws’ were a huge flop ,,, seriously, a homeless alcoholic like wellingtons blanket man would have crushed more weight in empty piss cans than Judith ever managed in cars ,,,,

Judith also oversaw laws which protected and hid some of the worst gang of thieves criminal loot,…. “Revenue Minister Judith Collins said the drop in trust numbers was not surprising and it shouldn’t be assumed that was because many had been handling the proceeds of illegitimate activities. ” https://www.sarawakreport.org/2017/07/australia-and-new-zealand-slide-from-their-responsibilities-over-mass-corruption-and-malaysia/

Different strokes for different folks ,,,, A “chop shop” is one form of gang crime and revenue…

…I’d like to see all the receipts and paperwork related to the huge fortune of unknown origin sitting in this yard.

  2. Judith Collins is just following the Chinese draconian model to stamp out “public dissension” and our freedom and democracy at the same time, after all she is married to a man who is linked to the Chinese communist party.

  3. No Ross it was not all there faults for turning to gangs it was also our governments fault whose institutes sexually and physically abused them when many were just boys. Is it any wonder we ended up with some of those you call ‘shit heads’. Then to add fuel to the fire the states racist and discriminative policies exacerbated the problem with prisons full of Maori being a main recruitment ground for gangs.

    • Spot on !!
If we had a REAL fourth estate, not a propaganda media, they’d be making this point to her at EVERY opportunity.

  4. I’ve said in other posts that the two central principles that National adheres to and worships are:

    1. The politics of fear: Highlight a fear in society and blame someone for it. In this case the rise in crime and gangs is the fear and the blame, according to National, lies with the Labour-led Government. From what I understand this is the same political football that National trots out prior to every election ad nauseum. As some older people I listen to and respect say – this is so boring it has lost any impact it might have once had.

    2. Dirty Politics: No explanation needed here.

Now there is a third tenet. Conspiracy theories promoted by Collins and Brownlee to undermine Javinda but I guess this comes under the politics of fear.

Ross you make a good point suggesting what Collins should focus on – economic recovery. She has been mocking Jacinda over the Government’s focus on COVID but last week she said that next week, being this week, she would announce her party’s COVID policy. Obviously it won’t be the only policy but it will almost be their first policy on top of Collins saying that she has no tolerance for COVID in New Zealand. This latter comment is yet another typically snide dig at and part of National’s smear campaign against Labour in light of the recent managed isolation breaches and further outbreak in the community.

What the country is looking for and currently has is strong leadership, not only in dealing with the COVID situation in New Zealand but also in handling the economy. It won’t find that in Collins or the National Party.
