What National are doing is dangerous!
Of course we need a Loyal Opposition holding a Government with vast police State Powers to account! No one is saying we shouldn’t and Simon Bridges did an amazing job of holding the Government to account when he was running those Select Committees, but this isn’t a Loyal Opposition, this is a Toxic Opposition who are promoting Conspiracy Theories at a time when the electorate is terrified!
This use of Conspiracy Theories to spook people have real world outcomes, remember when National spread the UN Refugee conspiracy theory that inspired the Christchurch white supremacist terrorist?
National are not trying to hold the Government to account as the loyal Opposition, they are a Toxic Opposition openly feeding conspiracy theories that risk destabilising civil society.

Yes, a relentless attack on the crusher was pure enjoyment. But on Morning Report today an onslaught on Chris Hipkins handling of his health portfolio had unnecessary bile. Hipkins handled it well but watch out when your beloved Kim goes over the top for her own edification

Kim is a treasure alright. She was virtually a one woman opposition during the dark Shipley years, day after day tackling duplicitous politicians like the “tight five”–Henare and Delamere etc.
We are lucky to have her still in a prominent role as RNZ becomes more and more of a National friendly outfit of timid interviewers. Under John Key’s sinking lid funding starvation, RNZ laid off most of the older hugely experienced presenters.
Hopefully enough people are put off, rather than encouraged by Judith and Jerry’s attention seeking. Labour better wake up soon because National’s idea of co-operation in a crisis is still “a swift kick to the nuts” rather than anything genuine.

Year after year of her steely, uncompromising no nonsense style of interviewing these neo liberal political clowns and cutting right to the chase. And the irony is she’s English born doing the job that these limp slack jawed right wing Kiwi born so-called journo’s should have been doing… there were times when she got those clowns so far into a corner I actually started to feel a tiny bit sorry for them L0L !

If she’d been allowed out to have a go at Key more often she would have ripped the rabbit to pieces. She’s that good.
Kim Hill is, and always has been a national treasure. She can so brilliantly interview anyone, from a biographer of Leonard Cohen to an accomplished epidemiologist, and in the course of the interview elevate the discussion.
This is but a taste if what this depressingly spiteful woman is capable of. And her warped deputy is no better.
She demands disclosure and information from the government but she cannot be trusted. And they know it. Her history of leaks (even aimed at her own colleagues), lies, manipulation and misinformation makes her as bigger threat to our health as this virus.
Collins was passed over as leader so many times for very good reason. National MP’s knew it. Key sacked her, what does that say?

Kim Hill was tough on Chris Hipkins today but bet you will not see that as a headline on this Blog. It has been shown many front line immegration workers have not been tested. When he said they are now she said is that not putting the card before the horse.
Tough questions need to be asked at times. She’s doing her job, and as always, – admirably.
Instead of a vibrant, intelligent and constructive Opposition, we are now confronted with a couple of vindictive, mean-spirited bullies. Surely National can do better than this.

The really huge problem the NZ National Party has is it has become a Toxic and Negative Party. This toxicity and negativity has become more evident since Judith Collins became its leader.
And so having such a background of toxic and negative must surely be a destructive virus for National.
If National thinks they can win an election they need to work well with those they currently deem the enemy i.e the Coalition government.
But Judith Collins has often come across as a vindictive and hateful/hate-filled sort of person. She isn’t exactly an excellent or suitable leader for National but I guess they are now scraping the bottom of an hollow barrel for leaders. They certainly have gone through quite a number of ‘leaders’ in the past 3 years.
I don’t think National will be winning much in votes whenever the next election is held. Reason being they are too much of a party that deem themselves perfection but have been absolute failures at coping with disasters albeit it Aramoana, the Cave Creek disaster, Pike River, the Canterbury Quakes, the Rena. etc.etc.etc.
