What is wrong with people!
Not content to have 1 billion animals burnt to death, Australian’s are now bulldozing Koala’s in the trees when logging!
Dozens of koalas ‘massacred’ on Australian logging plantation

That is an Australian fault savenz. Don’t dump it on everybody ‘What is wrong with people’? We have our own problems to face up to and they are hard to cope with. They have been infected by another terrible disease that is endemic – unrestrained capitalism and the religious cult of money and finance. It eats away at the human brain. Has it spread to NZ in its full virulence? We have to fight it on the home front.

There are three bad affects in this story about 14 police officers involved to remove a baby who is Maori. One is the brutalising of men and women in the police force who should be able to take pride in their work and its standards of probity. Then there is the evidence that there is a willingness to harass Maori for their real or perceived inadequacies. And thirdly is the neglect of more-than-adequate provisions for the training of people in the skills of self-management which we used to have in schools, cooking, domestic arts, working with wood and metal; learning how to use the physical tools to look after our physical needs, and the methods and understandings that are the tools enabling us to look after human and emotional needs. We aren’t goldfish, in a limited environment. There is much to understand and learning how to develop our own attributes and utilise those that the nation now, or should offer. This requires deliberate learning, not serendipity, from people who are capable and encourage pride in personal attainment in those acquiring knowledge.
This baby-removal is a return to bad practices of government from the past. The intention of most in 2019 was to advance to a better society. Then government withdrew from actively educating and left it up to outside agencies many of whom are boxtickers. There are too many whose inadequacies lead to actions receiving, from a society full of judges at every level, only censorious comment. The uncaring middle-class administrators insisting on caring behaviour from others doesn’t provide an adequate role model. The structural approach must be phased out and replaced with practical assistance from iwi sources, not just looking to the whanau or even hapu, that will be constrained by their own practices and differing approaches.
This is good news about policing in Hawkes Bay and I hope that the policing strategy will work out successfully.

Mike Moore representing the little country that could, punching above its weight etc. But the working man?

A lot of the op shops are locked into middle class ladies ideas of what amounts people ‘should’ pay. They haven’t the nous to work out how to make the money they want and shift the stuff not selling, and be kind to people who are prepared to buy blemished goods etc. So they send stuff to the landfill. A lot of people without transport have to make a morning of it just to get to the opshops, and look for the items, size etc that they need. It can’t always be done. Women getting on okay are just not sensitive to real life for the strugglers; some are just plain mean.
