This stinks to high heaven…

NZ First blocking analyst’s fisheries review appointment over bias claims
NZ First are blocking the appointment of an analyst to a fisheries review panel because the industry sees her as biased.

Two sources close to the decision told Stuff on Wednesday NZ First, which is close to the commercial fishing industry, has blocked the appointment of Environmental Defence Society’s Raewyn Peart to an upcoming review of fisheries management.

This decision stems from a belief that she is biased based on a reading of her recent book Voices from the Sea: Managing New Zealand’s Fisheries, which the Māori Fisheries Trust described as “scaremongering”.

…when you consider the environmental vandalism many of these fishing companies cause, when you consider the slave conditions on the ships many of these fishing companies manifest, when you consider how much money these fishing companies donated to NZ First, to now hear that this corrupt and unsustainable industry are calling the shots as to who can critically oversee them is outrageous.

This smells fishy like political corruption.

  1. This is exactly like NAWAC the pretend version of animal welfare – in reality a committee to enable profit driven business at the expense of the welfare of our cows, our pigs, our chickens, but putting a fake caring face on it.
SAFE may not be the friend of those that use animals for profit, but it is a voice specifically for the animals and should be represented on that committee. (And no I’m not a member)

Same with a watching brief on the health of our seas. If MPs can’t handle contrasting points of view or even just questioning what is occurring, then our country is already fxcked. They don’t seem to realise that we are their true friends because we tell them the true cost of their decisions.

  2. Yes well it stands to reason that you only want to appoint people you can manipulate. Isn’t that how PMs are selected oops I mean elected?
