btw @ CG …. DID YOU KNOW Koiwoi Rail ordered a shitload more DLs?
Christ I despair sometimes, I really do!!!
It seems it’s only marginally better than the Defence Force procurement ‘policy’ (if you can call it that).
We then have that Auckland Rail proposition (i.e. Light Rail down Dominion Road) based on something that asks the wrong question in the first place (i.e. ignoring things like freight, or the regional significance of Auckland Airport – not just Auckers proper)
IdiotSavant (of NoRightTurn) frequently uses the term “muppets” when providing EVIDENCE-BACKED examples of public service failures.
I’d just assumed to guy was something more than the brains of Britain given the logic and evidence behind his postings, and I’d always tried to be as charitable as possible towards all members of our public service – having experienced its Snr/and Muddle Managment both prior to, and subsequent from the 80s neo-lib driven reforms. As such, I allowed him the use of the “muppet” label without judging him.
But C H R I S T A L M I G H T Y! When did basic common sense get removed from any formal process in day to day operations? Are our ‘policy analysts’ – an occupation that has a neo-liberal story behind it in itself – now in fear of objectivity? (or are they now just ALL very recent naiive graduates with fuck all life experience and sense of history – I’m trying be charitable here and find excuses here for some of them)
It’s not just Snr and Muddle management that are now the problem, but a fair proportion of arse licking frontliners. (I guess for like members of those claiming our 4th Estate membership – they have mortgages to pay, and ethical behaviours are no longer in vogue). I wonder whether they’re actually committed to the master of the Universe wisdom of their bosses, or whether they’re just Fik as Pigshit, or whether its a question of job security and indebtedness – OR just WHAT the fuck it is!!!!
I’m now even MORE convinced that public service reform would be a real vote winner for an opposition’s approach.
Try getting a passport renewal (for example) if there’s the
SLIGHTEST of a genuine complication to the norm! (OMG OMG OMG I just can’t cope!) J E S U S H C H R I S T!!!!!
(I suspect a lot of it is FEAR of doing something wrong under His Master’s CEO Voice alongside the dimunition of things like a code of conduct and a basic understanding of what the fuck you are there for!!!)
Things really are in a bad state and there really are ripe pickings for opposition parties.
I hope they’re smart enough to pick on the obvious.
Housing and it’s affordability is one thing and there are good signs afoot.
(Don’t get me started on the supposed wisdom of BNZ’s Tony Alexander – or I’ll give you chapter and verse on Branch 900, what we once understood to be the real definition of ‘insider trading’, and a game we once used to play where we took odds on that sage’s predicitons coming true).
Jobs are another.
But there really is something a lot more fundamental and it has to do with our claim to being a democratic nation-state.
