The Green MP who Winston Peters told to “go back to your own country” has challenged the Foreign Minister in Parliament over his comments.
Peters says his comments were not racist, and he disagrees with the prime minister’s statement condemning them.
The MP, Lawrence Xu-Nan, tried about a dozen times to pin Peters down.
The pair clashed repeatedly, with Peters using Parliament’s rules to avoid answering directly whether he stood by his previous comments and Parliament’s Speaker Gerry Brownlee stepping in to require Peters to answer.

Watching Winston squirm and twist and pretend was so demeaning, but it’s also a reminder that NZF and their supporters are nothing more than bullies, and bullies are always at their heart cowards.

Firstly I’m not at all sure that all bullies are cowards. Still if it’s your article of faith go with it. Winston is an expert at avoiding awkward questions – so much so that our NZ used him as an example when they did a short doco about politicians avoiding questions. It’s his superpower. Although to be fair I think running away is probably the worst strategy he can use.
The New Zealand government publicly acknowledged racist Foreign Minister attends the South Pacific Islands Forum Foreign Leaders meeting, and assures the other Pacific Foreign Leaders that despite his racist outburst targetting Chinese people their complaint against the Chinese for test firing a missile in this region is ‘not totally lost’.

SUVA, FIJI | It’s not too late for Pacific leaders to issue a joint statement on China’s latest ballistic test, Foreign Affairs Minister Winston Peters says.
Peters said the Pacific Islands Forum’s (PIF) inability to agree on a shared response was a missed opportunity but he hadn’t given up hope.

To give a unified Pacific response to China for test firing a missile into our region, this guy needs to be sacked, and as soon as possible.
Nothing could send a more clearer message to the Chinese people that we are not their race enemy than removing this racist creep from all positions of authority, in the New Zealand government.

FGS Winston go out with “dignity = the state of being worthy of honour or respect, calm and serious self-control in behaviour and the basic human right to be valued”.
