Indubitably. It’s completely unnatural and so, so cruel. I’m a mother who happened to luck out and get a career opportunity that allowed my husband to stay home with our little boy and it has been so difficult to spend this time away from him, but I feel like the sacrifice has been worth it to have him spared from an early experience of daycare.

Had I not taken the job we would have had to enrol a 6 month old, pre verbal, pre walking baby full time.

In an ideal world without bills and mortgages I would have stayed with my little boy for at least 3 years. This shouldn’t just be a privilege afforded to the wealthy, I feel it is crucial for a functioning society.

ECE SHOULD BE PART OF THE NZ EDUCATION SYSTEM NOT A WAY FOR THE CORPORATES TO FLEECE THEIR WORKERS .Poor kids dont even know who their parent is .
