Wayne Brown finally standing up for Auckland against racist Government

Wayne Brown is finally standing up for Auckland against this racist Government…
“Butt out of our business.”
An angry Auckland Mayor has sent a terse message to Local Government Minister Simon Watts today over claims the Government is meddling in the council’s democratic processes.
The Government today announced it is moving to ban voting rights for non-elected members of council committees.
Watts said the changes would “strengthen local democracy and accountability”. They would apply to members of Houkura, the Auckland Council’s Independent Māori Statutory Board, he confirmed.
Auckland Mayor Wayne Brown responded swiftly this morning, firing out a press release accusing Watts of “picking a fight” with the council and breaching promises made to elected members earlier this year.

…this will be very confusing for Wayne’s Culture War Boomer electorate who LOVE to frottage on race issues.
On the one hand they love Wayne being. grumpy prick.
On the other hand they love bashing Māori.
So Wayne stepping up to this racist Government and calling them out on attempting to strangle Māori representation at Council is exciting because of the confusion it generates in Wayne Brown supporters.
The wholesale whiplash against Māori representation that was rammed through Parliament in the dying days of this Government (because they were too cowardly to try it on with full due process) was to give the Right some raw meat for their reactionary voters.
ACT and NZF can go to their redneck Lynch mobs and proclaim they have curtailed the Māori Bro-ocracy while secretly expanding the Plutocracy.
‘Dirty Work‘ highlights how the Right use Race to poison the democratic well.
Naked racism shouldn’t be rewarded, it should be punished.

1. I don’t think frottage is a verb.
2. A stopped clock is correct twice a day – or once if it’s using the 24-hour system.
3. Not all boomers vote for Winston – or Wayne for that matter.
Good on Grumpy.
