Wait, ACTs new policy is to arrest children???

ACT never fail to surprise with their Shit Trolling masquerading as social policy.
The Treaty Principles Referendum was civil war baiting.
Their desire to turn security guards into private militias was gasp inducing.
Now they are promising to arrest children by weaponising ‘leave the classroom’ powers for Teachers use.
By targeting disruptive children, ACT want to create new powers allowing Teachers to forcibly remove disruptive powers with any resisting student excluded and handed over to the Cops.
Arresting children is just so perfectly on brand for ACT.
We don’t have a youth problem in NZ.
We have an adult problem.
We hate young people in this country.
We never forgive them their transgressions.
Manhandling kids out of a classroom for disruption and handing them over to the cops isn’t a solution. It is a problem looking to create more problems.
It’s not corporal punishment but it’s certainly general punishment.
Why beat up on kids at School? Haven’t ACT done enough damage with their shitty meals?
You give kids a second, third, fourth and fifth chance BECAUSE THEY ARE KIDS!
Isolating them and quarantining them and casting them out writes those kids off.
We have a low punishment rate for children at schools because we know punishment doesn’t work on children, it just screws them up worse.
What schools need are more councillors and wrap around services and a Teacher’s aid in each classroom.
I’m not saying disruptions are bad and we should absolute minimise their impact on the collective learning of the kids, we all agree 100% with that, but this alpha bullshit routine to give teachers the powers to grab kids is so backwards.
These kids don’t need to be fined, excluded, manhandled or punished. They need care and empathy and understanding and help and support and encouragement!
Why are we so mean to kids???
Has the politics of cruelty and spite been so successful in extinguishing the hope and growth of others to the point that we are agreeing to arresting children for breaking ACTs new schedule of punishments and warning?
ACT will:
- Give teachers the power to remove disruptive students: Teachers will have a clear legal power to direct seriously or persistently disruptive students to leave the classroom and go to a staffed, supervised space.
- Back teachers who act reasonably: Staff will be protected when they use reasonable and proportionate intervention to prevent harm or the destruction of property.
- Set firm consequences for assault: Assaulting a teacher, student, or other member of school staff will trigger immediate removal and a mandatory stand-down or suspension. Serious assaults will be referred to Police Youth Aid.
- Make parents share responsibility: Parents will be required to engage when behaviour becomes serious or repeated, and may be held liable for deliberate property damage caused by their child.
We love to give kids the bash in this country. To harden them up or something.
Our kids deserve more than ‘this is sparta’ as an education policy.

Making the kids eat the puke worthy school lunches would probably be a worse punishment.
Paul henry…? Yuck. A narcissist prime. YUCK! I mean, ick and yuck. Yuckkety, yuck-yuck. Little bit of sick. YUCK! He’s the bleached and waxed perineum of yuck. His jaunty, open necked shirt look is best represented by a Yuck-ick combo statement. I remember he used to make attempts at dull little comical comments then peer about the studio to lap up the giggles that never came. Yuck. Ick! He’s sooo Voms-Maxxing. Mind you… he and seymour will make a lovely couple of somethings.
This seems to fit the way this coalition handles the consequences of social problems. Disruptive kids, homeless people, social housing, shut them down and move them out of sight; problem solved.
And it gets worse as each day passes. Of course, the stupid RW voters / enablers will suck it all up again because they are too dim-witted to work it out or even remember how many promises were made by this inept CoC but never fulfilled? Now they are running helter, skelter to try and bring some of them in – but it’s way too late for that now! ACT’s Treaty Principles Referendum was a disgrace, along with their appalling version of school lunches, which not only put NZ folk out of work, but gave the contract to another country? Of course, disruptive class mates have to be dealt with, but without physical force! Involve the angry pupil until an agreement is reached and ensure they are included in helping themselves. There have always been disruptive, rude class mates but often caused by a deep problem that mostly could be solved. Another time-wasting distraction from ACT!
