Trump says Pirro ‘folded like an umbrella’ in bid to drop Reflecting Pool vandalism charges
President Donald Trump says US Attorney Jeanine Pirro “choked” and “folded like an umbrella” in moving to drop charges against a former Olympian accused of vandalising the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool.
Speaking at an unrelated Oval Office event, Trump ducked questions about whether he’d fire Pirro, a former Fox News host and longtime ally he handpicked as top federal prosecutor in the nation’s capital.
But the president kept up his drumbeat of sharp criticism, saying he remained disappointed by her assessment that damage to the Reflecting Pool was the result of shoddy construction, not vandalism.
“Frankly, I think she choked because the judge was really vicious. Instead of going after the people that did it, the judge went after her and went after her department, and I guess she choked,” Trump said in response to a reporter’s question after he signed an executive order for military spouses. “I don’t know what the hell happened.”

Trump said in April that he had consulted with a trio of firms that had worked on swimming pools at his properties and that the one he picked for the Reflecting Pool project had done work at his golf course in Northern Virginia. That firm was Virginia-based Atlantic Industrial Coatings, which was awarded a US$14.7 million (NZ$25m) no-bid contract to repaint and waterproof its concrete floor.
“I have a guy who’s unbelievable at doing swimming pools,” Trump said then. “He looked at it. He called me up. He said, ‘Sir, we can do something on it.’”
…he touted this Pool as some sort of great upgrade, got his clown mate to do it, it’s fallen over and he’s blaming sabotage.

The request from a senior officer at the US military command carrying out President Donald Trump’s war with Iran came in an email: We need ideas.
“We are looking for new creative and unconventional ways to pressure and punish Iran,” an officer in US Central Command’s intelligence branch wrote in a message sent Wednesday to a broad group of military analysts, according to a source familiar with the message. A second source also said that a senior US military officer sent the message last week soliciting new ideas for how to deal with Iran.
The crowdsourcing-style query, which military officials said was unusual over email, is one sign of the limited — and potentially unpalatable —options available to Trump to force Iran into a deal on his terms. Hoping to find an alternative, the official at CENTCOM kicked off the brainstorming session via email to see if anyone had a better idea. The second source said CENTCOM is looking at everything, acknowledging it needs to reevaluate the strategy.

Trump vows to hunt down leakers who revealed missile shortage
Donald Trump has vowed to hunt down leakers who revealed the US is suffering from a shortage of critical missiles.
The US president said he would seek long prison sentences for figures who passed “treasonous statements” to the media, and insisted the US had “massive amounts” of munitions.
Mr Trump, writing on social media in the early hours of Thursday, did not clarify which media reports he was referring to.
However, CBS News has reported the US has used “nearly all” its long-range precision missiles during its war against Iran, while The Washington Post said the president had berated Pete Hegseth, the US defence secretary, for misleading him about the shortages.
