"If there is any solace to be found following the atrocities in Christchurch, it is in the loving expressions of shared humanity that followed them. With that outpouring of grief and understanding, racism was defeated, its hateful message repudiated – not in our name! That will ring around the world. The future of humanity on this fragile planet depends upon the recognition of our oneness in diversity."

Well bloody said Leslie

In fact I can think of a couple of people who post on this forum who shoud take note if those sentiments

Netanyhus ideology of hate cannot prevail because hare is self consuming. So if Israel wants to survive it has to abandon the dogma of hate. Societies founded on hate and injusticesimply cannot survive

Thats not the human way

I firmly believe that the repudiation of hate ideology is what makes this coàuntry so special. Ok, we're not perfect, no one is . But at least we try. When something like this happens theres no talk of retribution or fucking walls , we come together instead

Thats pretty damned amazing

Thanks for getting down to the nitty gritty, Leslie. Whether there can or will be a change of international political mindset by the NZ govt remains to be seen - there could be if they are listening to the bloke on the bus.

Great - in fact exciting - to see Martin Buber being quoted in the House of Commons. I have photocopied my much-read copy of Lloyd Geering's introduction to Buber's, "I and Thou," and given it to prickly relatives to read, but I don't think they have.
