A really good article, the time of fear for standing up against unfair Cannabis laws is certainly passing and being of Gold-card qualifying age myself, it can't come any sooner.

Our generation has lived with Cannabis prohibition our entire lives and I really think in order to protect our young, our old and our sick,it has to end with us right now.

It would be surprising to see any politician get the media Brashing, that Don suffered from in today's more aware and sympathetic media climate.

Helen Kelly has truly been a resent star when it comes to furthering this issue and has done so while being so terribly ill and what an incredibly strong soul, is she.

A referendum would seem the only forward, other than our politicians growing a set and realizing this issue is not going away and will most likely be a very real election issue this time around.

Well here you go I am in my 60's (Phew Really) And I am a smoker, have been most of my working life. A lot of 60 n 70 year olds I know smoke the weed (we hate the opiate tablets (Me Morphine and a host of others)) But one of the reasons we can function in society is because we break the Law, and smoke. Instead of turning into a wasted strung out oldie on Morph useless to most people. Oh and if they legalise it will they wipe out all out old charges???

good post Mr “Roll”inson,

funny how these issues work out in the end, it used to be “reefer madness” alright in NZ on the part of the cops, but the reality is someone must be scarfing down all that meth and weed because there are not enough stoners and road-ragers around to consume it on their own

so the answer is middle NZ does their fair share of consciousness altering, not that I am cheer leading for P at all, and a lot of boomers want that safety net of available medical cannabis if and when the need arises for them

Yip Where USA goes we follow.
Not an original thought in our politician's heads it seems.
Amazing about face by that fool from Ohariu on this as well.

Pity the thousands that have had their lives and futures damaged over the years by these ridiculous 'war on drugs' laws.

Reparations anybody!
