What an appalling person you are. Your abuse of people is a deep flaw in your own person. The math is correct no matter how much you deny it.
My son gets $320 net a week on the benefit. Translated to a 40 hour week that's $8 an hour. The minimum workin g wage at $20 an hour. I can only assume you went to school although your English is appalling you condescending prick .

$20 will buy a 1kg block of tasty cheese, and probably pay for the bus fare to the supermarket to buy it - that's if the bus turns up, and you might have to walk home. Given that the cheese is most likely produced in 'lil 'ole NuZull that punches above its weight, and no doubt like Labour's promises - good things take time, I'm still not sure why the stuff we produce has to attract 'international prices' (other than for ideological reasoning).
Oh Joy. Ever gone to Bunnings recently and tried to buy a miniscule bit of shitty pine timber? Same shit, different stink.
And then there's the banking system. Or Electricity. Or the Corporate Civil Service
We (this team of 5 million) are like a pack of masochists at times saying 'beat me, beat me, PLEASE - just a little more shite!
I mean - Faafoi I can understand - everything he's touches takes an eon and usually turns to shit. But I really expected better from Little, and Woods, and Chippie (who by the way is full of fecal matter over the Covid19/vaccination/Health Dept versus DHB capabilities), and Parker.
We probably need another term of the gNats who'll flog off everything else that's left to rouse the masses and our erected representatives, no to mention most claiming to be members of the 4th Estate.

That should link through to "Jobseeker" - Go to Jobseeker and you'll see that there is a variation for this one allowance, according to age, living arrangements and other factors.

Your comprehension is so very poor. We are talking minimum wage, $20 an hour, not benefits. What part don't you understand, the benefit hourly rate or the working wage hourly rate?
Your intellect is unintelligible. Swearing doesn't make you an intellect. And if you want an arse look in the mirror.
Given my son is on the benefit and the $320 a week and I am over $25 I think I know my sums. I will accept an apology.

Some of the comment above is woefully uninformed. Have a look at the MSD site for the pittance benefit rates and conditions, and proscribed stand downs and claw backs, and sanctions and obligations, and get your head around that lot! Unless you are a COVID Bennie of course–then it is $490 pw, and partner can keep working without being subject to moralistic spying.

The thing with taking work is that there are work related costs–childcare, transport, clothing, personal grooming, and work is quite likely to be precarious not full time hours. WINZ/MSD do not make it easy to transition between work and benefits despite what they say.

So as business likes certainty, so do humble working class people reduced to dealing with punitive MSD. The easy fix is make all the heartless case managers and bureaucrats unemployed and pay every citizen a basic income via IRD, with a new Dept set up for special needs people and top ups.

$20 an hour x 80 fortnight $1600 less tax. Roughly $1400 in the hand.
$640 per fortnight for single benefit.
Not sure which beneficiaries your talking to unless they're living in Auckland and getting an accommodation allowance and winter energy payment. But that's the price you pay for living in Auckland.
