It was sparked by overnight polling and spooked MPs after a week of self inflicted blunders by Luxon.
No one should be surprised that once again Luxon is facing another leadership challenge.
To understand why Luxon has failed, you have to understand how he was elected.
Cast your mind back to how Luxon was elected.
It was the dying days of the Judith Collins led leadership of National after she had bombed out in the Β 2020 election.
Simon Bridges was on the warpath and demanding a special meeting to challenge her.
Judith in her final move of spite decided to try and spike Simon’s leadership tilt by skewering him with a MeToo harpoon…
Collins demotes Simon Bridges over allegation of misconduct
National’s leader Judith Collins has demoted Simon Bridges following an accusation he made inappropriate comments to a female National MP several years ago.
The shock news came in a media release from Collins this evening and after much speculation that Bridges was considering a tilt at the top job.
RNZ understands Waitaki MP Jacqui Dean made the complaint in early 2017 and Bridges was spoken to, and then personally apologised.
Bridges is accused of making crude remarks in front of Dean and other MPs several years ago during a caucus function. Bill English was National Party leader at the time.
Dean has been approached for a response.
Collins said she had only just learned how serious the complaint was and had no choice but to immediately demote the Tauranga MP and strip him of his portfolio responsibilities, with the unanimous support of the board.
Collins said the party would not tolerate harassment and intimidation of any person.

…it was 2021, MeToo had a tiny amount of outrage left in it as a movement and Judith co-opted that in the hope it would blunt Simon from challenging her.
It didn’t.
He did and in her final act of toxicity, threw her votes behind the Luxon faction AND THAT IS HOW LUCON BECAME LEADER.
He became leader NOT because he was the best person, but because Judith wanted one last giant ‘fuck you’ to Simon bridges.
It’s why Simeon, Mark Mitchel and Louise Upston did so well under Luxon because they were Judith faction members.
I warned the moment Judith stepped down, Luxon was in trouble because she wouldn’t be there to protect his Caucus majority.
Luxon became leader NOT BECAUSE he was any good, but because it was always a grudge fuck against Simon bridges Β by Judith Collins.
Luxon is a rich prick Christian CEO who sees poverty as a punishment by God and wealth as a reward by God.
When he talks of ‘bottom feeders’ he is talking about sinners.
His fundamentalist Christian faith makes him a self believer even when everything is failing.
His CEO skills meant nothing against Seymour and Winston and his much lauded skills as a negotiator meant nothing in the end as he oversaw a agreement altho allowed ACT and NZF to do what they wanted.
He lost control of the feral right and instead fed it.
He never jelled with Kiwis, his weird moral pronouncements on things like castigating complaining parents of shitty school lunches to go make a marmite sandwich instead sounded so out of touch he was barely human.
His failure is because of the malice of Judith Collins.
I would be very surprised if anyone inside National was stupid enough to roll him and take the poisoned chalice of leadership, the smarter play would be allow him to fail and then roll him.
Meanwhile NZ suffers from National’s economic vandalism.
As of this minute, Chris Luxon is still leader of the National Party.

Surely ego-driven Luxon’s ‘gift of the gab’ isn’t going to be good enough this time to prevent him from being dumped! That it has taken so long for his caucus to actually make the right call, shows the serious lack of leadership within this rabble. There isn’t one of them capable of replacing Luxon and clearly not because Luxon was a great PM β he was embarrassingly stupid most of the time; he could barely speak English properly, and the lies just poured out. And he still ‘absolutely’ believes he is the right one to lead this CoC-up through to victory 7/11 [if not before]. He may well be right, but only because they have gerry-mandered and rigged the system, interferred with the electoral roll, and poured so much of their donations, AKA bribes, into causing as much mayhem as they can. There is NO RW DEMOCRACY in NZ now! They are a bunch of corrupt crooks and if you can’t see that, then you are of the same ilk! How can so many be so damned thick and stupid β why not ask them? Whatever and however it happens, I sincerely hope that Uncle Fester LuxFlakes stays as PM.
