The rise of the Greens

We told you this dynamic was happening…
Poll says Māori are turning to the Greens for their party vote
Māori are turning to the Greens for their party vote with a new poll revealing a change described by commentators as “massive”.
“This is huge – it’s like sitting in Taupō when an earthquake goes off,” says former MP Tau Henare.
Veteran journalist Tina Wickliffe says the result is “massive” and like nothing she has seen before amongst Māori voters.
“It’s because I think [the Greens] have come out swinging right from the get go,” she says.
“They’ve been relentless about the cost of living crisis that we are in, and we cannot underestimate how acute it is.”
RNZ
…I think that the Greens are in for their best performance ever.
They have bypassed the alienating woke dogma and focused clearly on economic justice, and that is making a clear break with Labour.
Chloe and Marama are more than happy to go populist Left by taxing the rich and providing a far better social, environmental and economic infrastructure.
They have also fielded an incredible list of Māori candidates who are driving the next generation of Māori voters, who due to demographics, ae causing enormous changes in the age make up of the Māori electorates.
These are the kids of total immersion Māori education, who see being on the Māori roll as part of their identity.
TPM’s candidate only electoral strategy is helping the Greens. Last election Greens received 10% of the Party vote, this election I think the demographic change will see the Greens pick up 30%.
Add to this the specials from Australia who were also part of the age demographic that heavily favours the Greens and you could see Greens go up from their Election night high.
The Greens must unify with TOP and TPM to create a united negotiating team if they want the wealth tax on the agenda.
Independent Media is more important than ever, especially in the lead up to the Election. TDB is the largest Left Wing Blog in NZ and we have been operating for 13 years. We get zero funding from NZonAir and we don’t have no rich backers. If you can donate please do so here or directly into our account –12-3065-0133561-56

TGP is the only serious party out there.
We can trust these people.
We can trust these people to throw the election to National
You wait until Chloe Swarbrick wins farmers over with her brilliant clarity and fairness. Once farmers, and I mean actual, literal farmers, not cowsploiters with hidden agendas supplanted onto paddocks by deviant career minded, urban-obfuvcaters for more than enough good coin to buy that seventy urban house just to ‘sort’ ones self. Chloe Swarbrick has Class. The thing about genuine Class is that it can’t be bought. It must be earned, otherwise there’s no Class in it therefore it immediately becomes no Class Dahlings. No Class.
@ P o’ Day. How? ” these people ” what are you writing about? Tell me? Who better? Rogers neoliberalism was an open-door cash grab and it was nothing else. Since rogers conjob our country, its people and it’s economy’s fucking tanked. What’s worse, we’re still lumbered with it. Neoliberalism’s simply a tangled web woven to enable crooks to walk in and steal our shit. Which they have done. ” We can trust these people to throw the election to National” You have no idea what you’re writing about thank God. If you did, I’d be freaking out right now.
With the Greens on 20+% and Labour on 25% we could see some meaningful change toward a more progressive society and away from the neoliberal balance-sheet approach!
I’m impressed with the way the Greens are approaching this election, with intelligence, integrity and some great ideas for NZ’s future. Chloe being there is a huge boost to their party and I believe they will poll very well! Of course it makes sense if Maori party vote doesn’t count, then give it to the Left. This isn’t quite the same as what the HRW are doing – their move is again spiteful and vindictive, as their party votes do count either way. Whatever the result, NZ needs a “Caring Govt.” unlike the CoC, that makes sure every-day costs are kept to a minimum and there are sufficient jobs for our workers. Plans need to be put in place for the shelter and care of our homeless people – hiding them is not the solution, it’s a punishment! At present NZ’s economy exists as an oligarchy, where wealth concentrates upward and market rules serve capital over people. This HAS to change if ALL of NZ is to go forward.
