‘Bomber’ Bradbury gets apology from police after exploit used to access bank records
An apology has been made by police to blogger Martyn “Bomber” Bradbury after officers investigating the identity of the hacker Rawshark used a loophole in the Privacy Act to unlawfully access his private information.
It is the third apology and settlement made by police following the 2014 investigation into Rawshark, who was said to have hacked information belonging to former Whaleoil blogger Cameron Slater.
Journalist Nicky Hager – who wrote the book Dirty Politics based on Rawshark’s information – also received an apology and settlement from police, as did his daughter, who was targeted simply through living at her father’s home during the writing of the book.
Dirty Politics blew the lid on Slater’s links to National Party figures and the attack blogging he carried out on their behalf.

The Prime Minister’s claim that he has never heard of Nicky Hager and Chris Penk reviewing the book without reading it are all attempts to smother the actual journalism and insights Nicky brings.
What Dirty Work highlights is how the Taxpayers’ Union weaponised racism for grift.
The book uncovers the real triggers behind the influence. They received so much money in donations when they promoted racist stereotyping over 3 Waters that they became addicted to the funding and the influence it created and generated.
The Taxpayers’ Union found that when they legitimised the bigotry of old white men, the money came gushing in.
That’s not a story merely about the Right influencing politics, it’s a story about an organisation that had zero traction gaining wealth and power by playing to the most racist urges of our community.
That should be condemned not celebrated.
