  1. “It’s the sound of Ideologies clashing”

Billy Bragg says Ed Sheeran should cancel his tour over Macklemore row: ‘This could tarnish his career’
Bragg also hit out at billionaire stadium owner Robert Kraft, accusing him of ‘trying to intimidate an artist into silence’

When one voice rules the nation
Just because they’re on top of the pile
Doesn’t mean their vision is the clearest….
    Outside the patient millions
Expect a little more back for their taxes
Like school books, beds in hospitals
And peace in our bloody time
All they get is old men grinding axes
    Who’ve built their private fortunes
On the things they can rely
    The courts, the secret handshake
The Stock Exchange and the old school tie…
    While we expect democracy
    They’re laughing in our face
And although our cries get louder
    Their laughter gets louder still
Above the sound of ideologies clashing

  2. Sheeran is going to spend the rest of his natural life punching himself in the face over this. Imagine being given a giant platform from which to shout, “Shooting children in the face is wrong!”, only to instead mumble feeble platitudes into your ginger beard and stare at your shoes, while your fellow artist gets thrown under the bus. What an absolute donkey, honestly.

  3. Simply by letting the performers who pulled out speak for themselves, ‘The Guardian’ has the best commentary.

All supporting acts withdraw from Ed Sheeran’s tour in solidarity with Macklemore
Four openers and live band for Sheeran’s tour depart after removal of Macklemore over ‘free Palestine’ comments

American singer, songwriter, musician, record producer and actor, stage name ‘Finneas’ who was scheduled to open for Sheeran on six South American dates in November, withdrew from the tour in solidarity with Macklemore.

“Artists must not be silenced when they speak up for the oppressed, I have decided to withdraw from my upcoming tour dates with Ed Sheeran. I stand with Palestine and its people.”
    Finneas Baird O’Connell,

Irish singer-songwriter and musician from Dublin, Aaron Rowe who opened for Sheeran in Australia earlier this year, was scheduled for the 10 remaining dates in North America, quit the tour in support of Macklemore, and Palestine.
    These are his words:

“I don’t take the decision lightly, Ed has been a friend to me and has changed my life, I could never thank him enough for this.
But as Irish people we know all too well about genocide, forced famine and violent occupation. I cannot stand by and allow billionaires to use their position of power to silence the rightful voices of those who speak up against Israeli genocide and who highlight the savage murder of children. I would lose all respect for myself to carry on as normal.”

    Aaron Rowe

To be given the break of a lifetime and turn your back on it, that takes real courage.
Ed Sheeran on the other hand, who is already a success….
    Words fail me.
    What’s with that guy?
Even Ed Sheeran’s backing band has quit in disgust at Sheeran’s capitulation.
This will be hard for Sheeran to back away from.

Sheeran’s backing band, Beoga, announced they would also quit the US tour in protest against the “silencing of Macklemore by zionist lobbies”.

“We are a traditional Irish band who never saw ourselves playing in stadiums of that size and that opportunity is not lost on us. We have been friends with Ed for over 10 years now and will continue to be. We believe in dialogue as a means of progressing the plight of the Palestinian people.”
    Beoga statement.

Danish band Lukas Graham also dropped out of the tour in protest at Macklemore’s silencing and Sheeran’s capitulation.

“We should be able to speak about war, about civilians being killed, about children who deserve to grow up. Wherever they live. Whatever flag flies over them. Money doesn’t give you the right to own the conversation. Nobody’s bank balance should decide who gets to speak or which suffering we’re allowed to acknowledge.”
    Lukas Forchhammer,
    Lead singer

Ed Sheeran could have stood with his supporting acts, and his backing band, but didn’t.

Sheeran has still not found a replacement backing band, or announced any replacement supporting acts.
Sheeran may yet find himself standing on his stage alone.
What reputable performing acts of any calibre would share a stage with Ed Sheeran after this?

Finally, Ms Rachel, the children’s educator loved by children around the world, even in Gaza, condemns Ed Sheeran’s disgusting capitulation to censoring criticism of a genocide.

“Ed Sheeran had an opportunity [to] show that we won’t be bullied into punishing people for supporting Palestine. Instead he caved to people who refuse to accept what the world knows. A genocide is happening in Gaza. We all need to speak on it.”
    Ms. Rachel

  4. I think she posted a lot of garbled nonsense and I am about f’ing sick of people using all manner of waffle to defend the indefensible.

  5. Macklemore is not hated like zionist Israel is,, and he has good support https://youtu.be/UVoMUli6OyI?t=3234https://youtu.be/UVoMUli6OyI?t=3234 “It’s not wrong to say Palestinian people should be able to be free, and Palestinian kids should be able to grow up. It’s wrong to be silent during a genocide.”

He’s providing an example for the truth that he says,,, “And one of the most effective ways to enforce silence has been to weaponize the accusation of anti-semitism. Anti-semitism is real. And that is exactly why the word matters too much to be used as a shield against criticism of the Israeli state.

When criticizing Israel, opposing Zionism, or saying free Palestine gets conflated with hatred of Jewish people, it doesn’t protect Jewish people. It protects Israel from accountability”. ….

  6. P!nk – So What (2026 Version)

Na Na Na Na Na Na Na
