Major National donor paid $2.5m for selling state houses
Real estate giant Bayleys has been paid millions in fees to sell state houses for Kāinga Ora. Labour says that’s ‘not a good look’ because of what it says are close links to the National Party. Isaac Davison reports.
One of the largest beneficiaries of the Government’s state housing sales has been a donor to the National Party.
Bayleys Real Estate has earned nearly $2.5 million in real estate fees from social housing agency Kāinga Ora in the last year, after winning a contract to market and sell hundreds of state houses.
Kāinga Ora, the Government and the company say everything is above board and the contract was the result of a robust process, including independent oversight.
Bayleys is one of the National Party’s biggest backers, donating around $180,000 to the party since 2022. Former National deputy leader and Cabinet minister Paula Bennett joined the company in 2020 after retiring from Parliament, and the former Auckland chief executive Lloyd Budd is running for the party in Whangarei.

All the more reason why we have to vote this COC lot out as they are feathering the nests of their funders who are getting richer at our expense by them hocking of our assets. Every time National are in power they sell off state housing and land. Our useless journalist needs to ask them how many state houses they have built and how much money did they give to private providers to build more social housing; how much houses did this group build and where did they build them. Also, we need to know how many state houses have been sold and land while they were in power. Bayley’s will be one of the National donors and you give you receive from this COC government, pretty corrupt really.

That’s what they always say and the independent oversight was probably Luxon or other caucus members reckoning that it was alright. In a decent world they would be prosecuted for theft of public assets is my opinion.

Yes, your right Patrize people need to vote to get rid of these rotten thieving lying greedy swine’s who have been feeding out of our government trough for far too long, some even coming back for seconds. This government look after themselves and their mates like Judeath Gollins who was given a high paying cushy job, but they don’t seem to care about many of our young people with no jobs to go to, lack of opportunities and it’s very hard for many NZers to get a decent job. They talk with a fork tongue when they say NZers need to stop leaning on the government when they are doing it themselves, Paula benefit is yet another example, she couldn’t get a job, but the old boys and girls soon got her one.
It’s CORRUPTION destroying New Zealand by these white collar criminals. Double Dipton was paid $500,000 for a hit report on Kainga Ora. They hate social provision of basic human support.
