Not sure what Māori can learn from a Nation shooting children in the head

Ummmmmm…
Māori delegates defend controversial trips to Israel
After facing public scrutiny, some of the members of different Māori delegations to Israel have spoken out about the trip.
The trips were reported to have been organised and funded by Israel’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with conflicting claims over whether they were fully or partially funded. The Israeli Embassy has declined to confirm the details.
The trip was advertised under the banner of business and innovation.
But questions remained on why Māori leaders were going to Israel, while its government is committing a genocide in Gaza.
‘The other side of the story’
One of the people who have just recently come back from the trip was Iwi leader Renata Hakiwai, who believed the trip was to promote Israel and to “provide the other side of the story”.

…not sure what Māori can learn from a Nation shooting children in the head.
Like there’s two schools of thought right?
One school of thought says, “it is never acceptable to shoot children in the head”.
I myself am an ardent fan of this school of thought and not surprisingly the vast, vast, vast, vast, vast majority of other human beings are also fans of this view.
The other school of thought however (consisting mostly of Israeli’s, Christian Zionists and Far Right Americans) believe shooting children in the head is an acceptable tactic.
The Māori leaders in question were on an all expenses tour of a country that legitimises shooting children in the head, alongside the other terrible, terrible, terrible things the IDF do.
I’m not sure how hearing ‘their side of the story’ is going to help anyone understand them committing war crimes so extreme that they technically breach the legal threshold of genocide.
Māori know what oppression feels and looks like, to tour a country actively oppressing another and committing genocide is a betrayal of that experience.

There only two Māori of many when I listened to their interviews, I was very disappointed in them both and I see money as the reason for them going there.
To be fair, the government of Israel has at least a regiment of people whose job it is to invite people to visit and then pull the wool over their eyes. Some of the people who go are cynical – out for a free holiday, And some of them are either politically naïve, or dumb as a box of hammers.
These seemingly wilfully delusional individuals might want to consider this. That aryan barbie, Sydney Sweeney became “Jewish” about 10 minutes ago, but she will now have more rights in Israel than any Palestinian that’s been there forever. What a disgrace. Israel will have loads of people who sure as hell have no connection to that land at all. Yet criticism of them is anti Semitic?
