Yes.

Long term disabled should cease to be lumped in with everyone else as they are looking at a very different set of issues.

For example there has been a continued shift by DHBs to stop providing essential medical care/costs simultaneously winz are increasingly resistant to supporting disabled (disability costs are discretionary). And the longer you rely on welfare the worse it will affect you.

It's good to see the plight of beneficiaries finally getting some more publication, even in MSM from time to time. But what really concerns me is that even in these article, seriously ill and disabled NZers who are reliant on benefits and don't even fall under work testing rules are being forgotten about. ie. we're being subjected to the same cruelty of WINZ as everyone else, and often don't have enough money to get by either because of high medical costs (it's bloody expensive being disabled in this country), and that really needs to be emphasised in all these articles.

I prefer to see genuine well thought out policy to get many of our NZers of welfare not the punitive measures we have now. People need help and they need good stable paid work. And to get this we need to invest in our people through all types of education not just schools and universities. But they cant do this by themselves. People also need good secure, warm homes these are good starting points.
