  1. Basically Luxon couldn’t lead a boy scout troop.
But National’s strategists realise that and are trying to shift the focus subtly from the leader to the troop as a whole so Luxon’s lack of leadership is the one that the left have to go after – hard.

  2. National have brought this on themselves. As have the left by tacitly supporting what the Maori Party are doing. It’s the NZ equivalent of US electoral state gerrymandering or ‘teal’ candidates in Australia. Demonstrates a sophisticated electorate that is smarter than the politicians themselves.

“The Feral Right captured by the billionaire class don’t care that the Overhang will cull Nicola Willis, Melissa Lee, Chris Bishop, Paul Goldsmith and Gerry Brownlee”

More to the point who does? That is the problem National itself created. Both Bishop and Willis self managed their own political suicide by choosing either the list or a Labour leaning seat to contest. Melissa Lee would only have got in via the electorate win anyway and still could if there is a 3-way progressive split. Paul Goldsmith – meh. Gerry Brownlee is the speaker so no real loss from parliament’s perspective.

This will become more an issue once the 2 establishment center-left parties start surging towards the 25% mark.
