National is running our health system down – Labour
Treasury documents expose the gap between National’s claims of record health funding and the reality facing our health system.
“Christopher Luxon has misled New Zealanders with claims of record health funding, knowing full well the health system has a structural deficit,” Labour health spokesperson Dr Ayesha Verrall said.
“National promised that they would invest in frontline services. But Treasury says the health system has a structural deficit – meaning services are underfunded.
“National effectively froze nursing recruitment, hiring only 54 nurses in two years, and tried to conceal that too.
“Under National New Zealanders are paying the price: longer waits, more pressure on hospitals, and less access to care.
“Labour’s approach is the opposite. We will invest in primary care, prevention and early intervention so people get care earlier and our hospitals aren’t left carrying the whole load.
“New Zealanders deserve a health system that works, not a National Government that underfunds it, cuts it and then tries to pretend everything is fine.
“We can’t afford another three years of National’s cuts, chaos and underfunding, it’s wreaking havoc on our health system,” Ayesha Verrall said.
Of course National is running our health system down, as claimed by Labour. Minister, Brown is obsessed with privatising it for his buddies. Privatisation will not fix the myriad of problems/issues with our health system. All it will do is put more money into the bank accounts of the already wealthy. What the hell is wrong with National? Are they so short-sighted, bribed, dumb to see exactly where all this is heading.
